It has been too long (almost 3 weeks) since we were at the Grand Waikikian but I finally gotten around to posting on our trip. Pictures are below!

We stayed in #2103, 2br partial ocean view. The units are very nice and the check-in staff was exceptional.

The pics I am posting below are all of our unit, plus some of the new pool, which opened during our stay. You can see the kitchen, living room, lanai, master bed, second bed and both baths.

The new pool is great for kids, good water slides, really great kid/wading area. Only problem is it is VERY cold. Perhaps it will warm up over time but it was rough. HHV/HGVC needs to get a handle on use of the pool as day 2 of it being open saw lots of folks who weren't staying there using it, including some local kids who were using bad language, etc, and generally making it less enjoyable.

Tip-a great way to watch the Friday night Hawaiian show at HHV is to have a couple drinks and dinner at Hau Tree bar poolside. If you get there by 5:30 you should have your pick of tables and can see the show better than the show guests. We did it and it was great.

Also, HHV is remodeling the Tropics bar on the beach. It should be done later this year and looks really great. Much needed as the HHV dining options are slipping.

First 5 pics, with some more to follow:

We were there around the same time as you and I agree about the pool temperature. I know the Kalia pool is always frigid, I expect the same for the "Paradise Pool" as well. The two new hot tubs were great though.
The front desk was very helpful to us as well. As far as the room it's self goes, they are nicely set up. In both rooms I had, I had to re-boot the HD cable box when we arrived because they were hung up, and the remotes sometimes change BOTH tv's channel or volume.
When we were there, most of the bars were closed. (Tropics, Shell, Kalia pool), and the Rainbow Lanai restaurant was closed as well. The only bars open were the Tapa and Hau Tree, and for a few days, the only breakfast option was the temporary pool restaurant they have set up. A large convention (PTC) came in and they opened more facilities, but they were for private convention activities only. By the time we left, the rainbow Lanai had re-opened, and much to my wife's delight, an IHOP had opened across the street, 50 yards down from the Wailana coffee house.
I hope you had a good time there. We certainly did.

Very nice.

Thanks for sharing :) The view is very nice from the 21st floor. Also, the Grand Waikikian lanai actually looks a litle bigger than the Kalia Tower lanai.

What did you think about the open master bathroom? I'm not a fan of this setup because the bedroom is open to the lights from the bathroom area and noises from the sink and shower.

Thanks for the pictures. I really wanted to go to HHV this year but the pictures will have to do for now!

Alwysonvac, re: your points:
Perhaps we were in an ocean view room then. I can't remember and frankly have a hard time deciphering between the various levels. In any event, I know for a fact we were in unit 2103 so whatever that is is what we had. Yes we did use club points because we had some from last year, and the rooms are very nice...but I am not sure they're worth the points premium over Kalia or Lagoon tower.

Re: the open Master Bath, I am not sure why HGVC would be putting these everywhere. For us (we had my mother in law with us and we have a very energetic five year old) it meant that my wife and/or I was effectively locked out of our entire bedroom when one or the other was showering. Also, it makes it tough when one of us stayed up later and thus got ready for bed after the other was already asleep. It is a dramatic reduction in convenience and privacy I think. Nicely appointed, of course, but far less functional than you would like.

Thanks for the info BMack :)
