We have been to Hilton Head before, but have stayed at GO and Monarch. What grocery store is nice and convenient to Barony? Any recommendations for bike trails, golf or casual dining near Barony would also be appreciated. We are going with older kids who like fun, but casual places to hang out.
(Ages 14, 14, 12 and 11) Thanks!!

There is a Bi Lo nearby that we use near Barony. Sam's Club is in the North part of the island as well.

Bi-Lo Inc: Retail Stores - www.bi-lo.com
164 S Port Royal Dr, Hilton Head Island - (843) 681-5327

I prefer to drive to Fresh Market, the gourmet grocer to get meats and desserts but I buy the rest at Bi Lo or Piggly. Fresh Market is in the same plaza as Bonefish Grill not near Barony. We love it there but we buy some things at a regular grocer.

There is a Piggly Wiggly in Shelter Cove.

DINING OPTIONS

Main Street Plaza has a Harris Teeter grocer. Frankie Bones is 10-16 a meal in the same plaza has wonderful red leather booths and plays Sinatra music with a large menu. Italian food and there is a Main St Cafe that serves breakfast.

Carrabbas Grill which opens at 4pm has meals for $14-$16.

We like Stacks on the Wm Hilton Pkwy mid island. Inexpensive breakfast and lunch with generous portions. Hilton Head Diner is similar. I prefer Stacks lately to HH Diner.

Not near Barony- Aunt Chiladas Sports Pub (and age appropriate)or Wild Wings on Pope are not expensive. We also love Sticky Fingers near Redfish which if you sign up for their online club and use HHI as your home resort you get a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert. I suggest the chicken wings which are delicious. This is an annual must eat place for us.

There were two restaurants that we really loved: Stripes and Alexander’s. Both had great food and wine. We also enjoyed The Old Oyster House – fantastic view, good food, seafood only (Alyssa, our vegetarian, ate salad). CQ’s – supposedly one of the best restaurants on the island – was truly awful. Café Europa has a beautiful view of the harbor in Harbour Town, but the food is mediocre at best. Dvino’s, an Italian restaurant, was pleasant – but nothing to rave about. We had lunch at Charley’s Crab on the last day – not bad – good early bird specials.

Here is a link to my picture trail which shows the restaurants and the resort - may give you an idea of what you like. We stayed at Barony. Have fun!

There's also a Publix Supermarket just a tad north of you off Hwy 278 on the opposite side of the highway from Barony. It's in the Festival Centre at Indigo Park.

Publix Super Market
45 Pembroke Drive
Hilton Head Island, SC 29926

Also a Walmart in the same shopping center (Indigo) as Publix.

I prefer Stacks for breakfast also - not far from Barony. IHop is also very close by.

For biking, we cut through the Port Royal Golf Course, where the bike trails and cart trails meet, then we branch off and go into the gated community that way. It's beautiful riding back there. Nobody has ever stopped us or said anything.
