Here's a message I just received from a member of our club (Greater New York Timeshare Owners Group). She owns an EOY (every other year) week at the Manhattan Club.

"I had a friend call and ask if I could book a room for her for a Monday night (one night). I told her that it was not my year but I would be glad to check for her.

I called member services, found out the rate would be $450 but there was no availability.

My friend then checked Hotels.com – found a room at the club for the Monday night she wanted and the price was $372. Very interesting. As a member, I get to pay more and am told there is no availability.

Just wanted to share."

They've been taking lessons from RCI.

Just read thru "Endless Vacations" and saw an ad for the Manhattan Club. Accomodations for 2 in a "New Metropolitan Suite" (whatever that is) for $179 a night. Call 888-692-2121 and ask for code 307. This rate is valid Sunday thru Thursday so it may work for your friend.

This requires a presentation tour of course.

I just toured the metro unit. It is newly finished studio unit on the 2nd floor. It's VERY small, but furnished with very nice practical contemporary furnitures so that it is quite functional. Much more storage than the refurbished old studio unit. Suitable for a couple for a few days of stay. I'm not sure about 2nd floor noise though.

At least they won't have to wait for the elevator!

Didn't see the Metro Suites but was told that if we were used to the full 1BR, we would be miserable in them.

So $179 for a Metro Suite. Maybe for $450 you get the large 1 bedroom unit.

Once we extended our trip another night and stayed at the Crowne Plaza at the UN. We snagged the room for $179 via TravelZoo. But the room was teeny. It sure made us appreciate staying in the roomier MC units.

Next time we extend our trip to NY we will stay in the cramped hotel first, then go to the MC. We learned our lesson.
