I am an RCI points member for the past 3 yrs or so. Most of my activity with RCI was through RCI's Last Call and Extra Vacations. I have noticed a very disturbing trend with RCI Points over the past 9 months. There is very limited inventory offered through Last Call. There is almost nothing available in the Caribbbean were in previous years you could always find inventory. Also there is very little offered through RCI Instant Exchange (where the week with within 45 days you get the place for 8000 or 9000 points). Most caribbean inventory. An RCI agent on the phone told me that there are restrictions now placed on this option - some inventory is excluded from this Instant Exchange - something which i never noticed. At first i thought it was seasonal then ive noticed that (since RCI changed their web interface visual last year, although the website appears identical in content and problems/errors) it is continuing and going on now for almost a full year. Also if you look at what is available by looking through RCI Weeks the inventory is very limited. What i find most incredible is that RCI has alot of caribbean and other inventory for sale 600$/week and up in its "Extra Vacations" area of the website - Alot more inventory than even the normal Points and Weeks put together if you preview what is available for a 2 or 3 month look ahead. What is going on here - I have noticed this trend also with other areas (Florida for example). What is going on is anyone else noticing this? Am i mistaken? I've read on various websites where RCI is selling inventory to Travel Agents from the members pool.
