I admit I have a difficult time moving around the TUG site. I have been unable to find this thread and was looking forward to Madge's answer. Madge posted a couple of comments on 11-7 but this issue was not addressed.

I would appreciate help in finding this thread and the comments thereon. THANKS!

Madge - I have a few questions I'd like for you to answer, please.

I am a travel agent (& a TS owner). In the October 2 issue of 'Travel Agent' magazine, there was an article that told of how RCI is now making condos, villas, & houses available to travel agents to rent to their clients. In order to get 1st hand knowledge of how wonderful the timeshare condo experience is, RCI is giving travel agents a 25% discount off rental fees if units are rented for themselves. Lastly, through the end of 2006 and during special promotions thereafter, travel agents can make 20% commission on rentals they arrange.

I logged onto the website listed in the article and sure enough, it was timeshare resorts that were listed for rent. These were not excess inventory: Hawaii any time of year, coastal So CA in the San Diego area during Del Mar race season, coastal FL any time of year, etc. The rental fees for these units were reasonable.

My questions to you, Madge, are:
1. From what inventory are these weeks being made available from? Spacebanked weeks program? Points program?
2. Why, as a timeshare owner requesting an exchange into Hawaii, am I told by an RCI VC that there is a 2 year wait, but as a travel agent, I can book a week for the spring of 2007 and at a 25% discount to boot?
3. Why is RCI not honoring what they promised their paying members - namely, the availability of units in desirable locations when they spacebanked their weeks for the use of other MEMBERS?

There are several ways to find a particular thread. In this case, the easiest is to go to the forum where it was posted (Ask RCI) and scroll down until you find it. The question was posted on October 24, so you'll find it (as of now) at the top of the second page of threads for that forum.

Yes, Madge visited the forum today and responded to a few questions. She responds to questions chronologically, based on the date of the last post in the thread where the question was posed. Thus far, she has not responded to any questions posed beyond October 20.

Accordingly, the reason she hasn't responded yet is that she hasn't gotten as far as questions posed on October 24 and later.

The thread was exactly where you said. Thank You! However, the thread shows a lot of views and no replies. I believe I saw quite a few postings on the day the thread was added. Were they deleted or moved or in a different location?

Some people, over a several day period, posted messages in the thread that essentially echoed the original post. Such extra posts slow down Madge's response, as I explained above. Thus, I posted a message indicating I would delete those extraneous posts within 24 hours so as to speed up Madge's reply. I followed through and deleted those messages the next day.
