Hi, which tower would you recommend? Would you recommend going to the Westin via Interval exchanges? First time going to Maui.

Thanks for any help

You posted in the Marriott Forum, but you asked about the Westin, so I will address the Westin question:

The Westin is a difficult exchange - Westin owners get first choice of deposits, and there aren't a lot of deposits.

At this point, your best shot at the Westin is to put in a request for all of 2017. You are unlikely to get school holidays or high season.

With Westin, you can't choose the bldg. in which you are placed with a II exchange - you should expect a garden view.

The Westin has two phases, therefore 2 resort numbers, so you will want to request both for the best chance.

I have no doubt that you are correct in 99+% of the cases, but we were really lucky about 4 years ago when we exchanged the 2BR side of our Grand Chateau 3BR unit for a 2BR at the Westin. The exchange was for February and we were assigned an ocean view villa. It was not even an ongoing deposit. Rather, it was an instant online exchange and was outside of Flexchange. I know that is unlikely to ever happen again.

4 years ago there were a lot more deposits - in the last year it has really dried up, and we don't know how things will change with new management taking over.

Thanks for sharing the resort map for MOC. We will be there in June with an OV 1BR unit.

Any recommendations for the best view would be appreciated. High floor is a given, but recommendations on the building area would be great.

Thanks.

High floor, Molokai tower on the Napili side, IMO.

+1 this is a spectacular view. Next best IMO would be Lanai Tower poolside - highest floor possible.

Best,

Greg

Mike, enjoy your trip -- I think you have back to back Ko Olina and MOC? If so, that's a real winner -- have fun!

Best,

Greg

Will be at the Maui Ocean Club in three weeks and will be staying in the Lahaina and Napili Towers in an oceanfront room.
Can anybody tell me if one of the towers is preferable to stay at? or are they basically the same.
Thanks.

I prefer Lahaina as it is closer to the ocean, easier access to grills and has more shaded area in the grass in front of the tower. Parking is also easier at Lahaina.

Napili is closer to Whalers Village, had a better beach in front of it, and it's pool has a pool bar.

Noting these intangibles, the key is high floor. I would take 7th floor Napili over 5th floor Lahaina in a heartbeat.

So if I were you, I would consider these intangibles, and then call now and request highest floor possible in whichever tower sounds better. There are more floating 2Br OFs in Napili so odds are that's where you would default to.

Enjoy your trip!

Best,

Greg

Thanks Greg.

We will be at KBC for 5 nights (OF using DC), Ko Olina for 8 nights (deeded OV week plus one night using DC), and end at MOC for 5 nights (OV using DC). We wanted to take advantage of the flexibility of complimenting our MKO week with DC points.

We are looking forward to the trip.

Best regards.

Mike
