Hi Tuggers !

Does anyone use "DashLane" ????

Did some research (reviews, etc.) and based upon positive reviews,
installed DashLane last night.

It's supposed to remember (and create "super" passwords) and automatically
enter it on websites, online-forms, etc.)

Then... I wondered how installing and using this app would impact my
usage at public (libraries, hotels, etc.) computers.

Since public (or a friend's) PC won't have DashLane installed, would I
be "up-a-creek" ??? :crash:

Thanks, Tuggers !!!

Feel free to respond on the Lounge or directly to me.

...

I use 1password. It's very similar. When I need to log into an account on a "foreign" machine, I can get the password from my phone, which also has a copy installed.

When I get home, I change any password I typed into a machine I don't control.

Hi BNoble !

Thanks for your speedy response !!!

I found out that I would have to jump-through-hoops to be able to access websites on "foreign" computers.
It's a time-consuming hassle, especially using a PC on a "time-based" system (cruise ships, etc.).

I'm currently in the process of getting out of DashLane now.
Wish me luck as it's more difficult getting-out... than getting-in.

Thanks again..... Doug

I've been using Dashlane for a several years. I don't let it pick the passwords for me. I have my own "algorithm" for picking passwords so that each site is unique and they are passwords that I can remember when using public computers. The thing I really love about Dashlane and other similar products is they're ability to autofill personal info, addresses, credit card info, etc. As a VIP (Very Impatient Person) is saves me time.

The autofill feature is nice but... I'm in the process to getting out.

Even uninstalling it from my system is a pain.
From Control-Panel, I selected it (dashline) & clicked on "Uninstall"... two hours ago !
It's still shows up !!!

When I click on "Uninstall".... again and again and again,
Up pops a message:
  • Please wait until the current program is finished uninstalling or being changed

DUH !!!!

Plus... it screwed up some of my log-ins, like to Gmail !!!
I used to have the password field automatically populated but now...
I have to enter it every time.

It's like marriage, easy to get wed...
much, much, much more difficult to get un-wed.

hmmmmm

You blew my secret algorithm. Now I'll have to come up with another and change all my passwords.
