In today's mail I got a promo postcard from American Airlines called their Fly Away Promotion.

Must call within 48 hours to receive 2 round trip airfares to anywhere in the continental U.S. good for the next 12 months, and a 3 day, 2 night hotel stay at major brands.

Being sceptical I always wonder what the catch is. Has anyone else received this and called yet?

I just called and found out the catch. It is a timeshare presentation with Hyatt.

Received the same several weeks ago but it was for Jet Blue. Hyatt presentation was the hook.

And the promo was not sent by American Airlines.

We get those several times a year. The mailer always makes it look like it's an offer from a specific airline, but it's really not. As you learned when you looked for the catch.

When I called and they answered "Reservations" I figured it hadn't been sent by American. :D Decided it wasn't worth our time to sit through a timeshare presentation just to fly somewhere and stay for only two nights.

I did call on one of these and first red flag had to make a $50 deposit but could not book earlier than two months out. No info on how it got refunded!

Then I would leave very late Monday night, drag out of bed Tuesday for sales pitch and have to be at air port around 5:00 AM Wednesday to catch 6:00AM flight!

Not a vacation, but endurance test!
