HI Tuggers!

I have 126k points that will go most likey go unused this year due to me being pregnant (due in Oct) and starting a new business this year.

We would like to travel to Kauai for the first time spring of next year. prob Mar or Apr. We will going with another couple so a 2 bedroom is needed.

I have not done a desposit since the whole RCI change and im wondering how many points are need to pull a decent unit.

Ideally we'd like to stay a week at the beach villas or shearwater and open to other non-wyndham resorts as well. any suggestions? are group is 4 adults and a 6 mth old, 1 yr old, and 2 1/2 yr old. traveling mar or apr 2013.

do you think I'd even have a chance at getting a trade. would 184k deposit be enough? or im a crazy and still living in the glory days and should really deposit 224k, 258k or 308K?

Also can i make a lesser deposit and see what that pulls then increase it later?

oh and on another note since depositing points isnt the value it once was,, are you pooling your points more? is it a $39 fee to pool no matter what or can you use a transaction?

THanks so much!! Tug is such a wonderful resource!! :)

I don't know the specifics of what is available in Kauai, but there is very little leeway in terms of what point values are needed now. If you need a 2BR, the most points it will take is 224K, in prime season. It goes down according to the chart you will find online if you go to the section of the Wyndham site for depositing points to RCI, and is dependent on season.

I just did a search online (you should be able to do this, too) and it appears there are a couple of 2BR available during March at the Beach Villas, at 224K.

If you go to page 237 of Club Wndham Directory it gives RCI points values.

If you go to page 93 it shows Kaua'i points. All Prime and 308K or 325K for 2 BR or 490K for lock off!

Pooling is a flat $39 fee.

What was posted is consistant with what is showing on line. Interesting enough, I spot checked on line and there is under 60 day availability for this resort where the half price discount for platinum is available, if you have a Platium Membership.

03/24/2013 7 2 Bedroom Deluxe Lower Level • 308,000 N/A

I dont own Wyndham but if I recall correctly your 126K deposit will get you 63K RCI points. I just looked on RCI and I see plenty of availability for the Wyndham properties on Kuai. I also see several other resorts on Kuai as well available in a 2 bedroom. The points range for your timeframe is 46K-110k (110K gets you Wyndham Bali Hai) You could stay at Wyndham Shearwater in a 2 bedroom for 82K points. It may not be a bad idea to deposit the 126K Wyndham points to RCI. Depending on your preference you can get a 2 bedroom unit with that deposit. You can also rent points for a penny a point if you are a little short.

Not really---there is no "conversion" between Wyndham points and RCI Points. Just a flat-rate exchange table.

The point values for an area are generally the same for the same size unit/time of year; they do not vary from resort to resort. So, other HI units at the time you are looking will tell you what the exchange in the desired resort would cost if it were there. Those values *can* change going forward, but they don't seem to often. So, this information:

tells you that you will need Prime Season point values to make an exchange: 224k for a 2BR.

Thanks so much!!

I made a deposit of 224k today, hopefully the villas will still be avail tmrw. RCI won't let me search till the deposit is made and it takes 24hrs.

I really appreciate everyones help.
