I had a call today from a John Thorton from the VO group and he said someone filed a complaint against Wyndham under my ownership. I did not complain of anything. Is this a scam?

There have been people soliciting Tuggers for a class action suite. Did you respond to any of those emails with your ownership info.?

Do you have an proof that the caller is who he claims to be?

I agree with Denise's post. There is a Consumer Advocate Group of some sort in the Wyndham Vacation Ownership Legal Group. I forget her name. Get through to them and verify it is real. If the call that came to you is legit, it came from them. Do not let the Place Gaurd from Owner Relations or Reservations stop you. If the only way to reach them is to call the Presidents Office and have them refer you that works to. I just remembered her name. Insist on talking to Brenda George. If she is not there anymore then her replacement.

Just got off the phone with Owner Relations. They do not show the person in their system.

No, I didnt give to much info. He wanted me to send how the sale presentation went and if I was happy with everthing. He said there was a complaint filed with my ownership on it. He said it could be from 4 or 5 years ago.

I don't have any proof. He gave me his email to send him info.

I'd be very careful - this may just be a come-on from a scammer.

Did he give you a professional email address or a personal email address?

He didnt know anything about my partners info, who I share a platinum membership with.

google the business address and see what comes up. I believe all Wyndham Vacation Resorts E-Mail accounts have a @something that is reconizable as them, including their commonly used initials. You may want to post the E-Mail here also. Someone may reconize it.

Its a business to help you from timeshare fraud.

What is the business name?

I think you just got a cold call from an upfront fee company, pretending to be someone officially connected to Wyndham.

Its VO group and if you google it , the site comes up. His email was JohnThorton@vogroup.net.

The above is the site that comes up in Google. This does not appear to be Wyndham Vacation Ownership. Note the discription of their companies services. Interesting combination of services that they want to sell. Before anyone does business with them, I would suggest they ask them if they have any required licences in the state that the Resort is located in. Also, I would pass on the vacation club.

That's what I'm thinking. I was wondering how they got my cell phone number.

When you filled out the check in paper work at the last stay, they usually ask you for a contact number LEAK

I'm thinking what Denise said is correct. The want people to supply info about their timeshare experience when they bought their timeshares. They want info how the presentation went, what they promised and didn't fulfill their promises.

Possably. One non-Wyndham Resort in Virginia made arrangements with the check in desk to divert people interested in the developer sales to their offices instead of the developers own sales staff. It happens.

Vacation Ownership Group called my wife looking for me. He said they are under contract with Wyndham to do consulting for Wyndham. They wanted to know about my last purchase from Wyndham saying he know about the problems that I had. My wife gave him my phone number and said to call tomorrow. I called back shortly thereafter, he was not available for the call. I asked if the Firm was under contract with Wyndham and she said no, they were completely separate from Wyndham and wanted business to take action against Wyndham. Phone 508 619 7353: They said they are operating out of Florida.

My case was John Welsh. He said that the person named earlier in the tread does not work for their firm. His information is very dated. They thought my last purchase was Smokey Mountain. He confirmed they are not Wyndham. He said my complaint was referred to them to investigate by Wyndham and they do not want to provide the information but are legally required to provide it to them. I told him about this thread and suggested that he come to the thread and introduce himself and explain what they are doing.

Area code 508 is SE Massachusetts. Of course if it's a cell phone number or VOIP, the phone could be anywhere.

He called me again to see why I hadn't sent him any info. Thanks to everyone for the head up.

Rated D- by BBB. That should be enough of a deterrent regardless of what else they may pitch to you.

Yes, but isn't it true that the terrorist group HAMAS has an "A" rating from the BBB, and Wyndham has an "F" Rating with the BBB.
I don't think the BBB is a very good benchmark. It is a "for profit" agency that franchises it's offices.......

They wouldn't need a license unless they were buying or selling, and it doesn't look like that's what the VO Group does.
They look like a legitimate company that helps people who have been misled or lied to in order to purchase their timeshare.
That surely is a service that this industry needs.
