Hello:

Anyone have any information regarding this resort? We are researching for a 2011 Nov.-Dec. Hawaii trip. We own in Hawaii but have never gone to Kaua'i. This resort looks smaller and quieter than Princeville, we could book either one. We are 2 people and are looking for value golf and relaxing.
The reviews on this place so far seem good, but nothing on TUG

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks!!

Hi,

There is a ton of information on TUG about KBV. Denise is one of the moderators. She owns there and loves it. I think there could be of a few reasons you are not finding much information if you did a search. One is your spelling of Kauai with the apostophe; another is that it was not a Wyndham resort until recently - it was Pahio before; on TUG it seems most often referred to as simply KBV. If you are a TUG member, you can read detailed reviews here http://tug2.com/RnR/TabResortDescription.aspx?ResortGUID=6fe5018b-720c-4149-92e2-1e74cf286302

There are a number of threads about it in this forum. Do an advanced search on title for Kauai Beach Villas. Sorry, I don't have time to post any links for you.

I own an oceanfront unit here and really like it. The location is great for getting to both ends of the island and from the airport, especially if your flight lands at night. Unlike many of the Wyndham Princeville properties, it's on the beach, although most of the time the water is not swimmable. We can use the pools at the hotel next door, where there are also a couple of restaurants and a gift shop.

Thanks for the information

Thanks for all the links, etc. It looks like our kind of place, low key and relaxing...we will book as soon as the dates open up!!

Here are some posts about the resort - http://www.google.com/search?client=gmail&rls=gm&q="kauai beach villas"site:tugbbs.com

I am not sure how easy it is to reserve with Wyndham points. The resort was completely sold out as a weeks resort, before Wyndham bought it, and only owners who paid $$$ to convert to Wyndham points are in the Wyndham points pool. If you can't reserve it with Wyndham points, RCI, and HTSE also have inventory.

If you get a reservation, be sure you request an ocean front view - it may be a long shot, but this resort has some of the best views in Hawaii:

View from our lanai.

Swimmable beach just a few steps down the beach. There is a very clean stream and lagoon on the left side of the resort that you can see at the bottom of the picture.

checking for a week reservation, there is plenty of availability with wyndham points at this resort, even in the summer months looking now there is availability, however, getting an oceanview in the summer would most likely take booking at 10 months out, because there didn't seem to be any I could find just poking around.

Wyndham Kaua'i

Thanks for those great pics!! We have some flexibility with the dates, I just checked for early Nov. and there are units available, we are looking for a bit later, the week after Thanksgiving...we will be in Honolulu for 2 weeks before that and hope to visit Kaua'i.

We are Wyndham VIP and own in Princeville, but this resort looks a bit more inviting so we wanted to try, will let you know how it works.

As I posted earlier we rented our Maui weeks in Feb, so we are trying to still get to the islands with the other units!!

That's good to know. I don't own Wyndham points, so I have no way of checking. Are you able to reserve specific buildings or views?

The ocean view units are on the ocean side of Bldg. F, G, & H - with G & H having the best views. Not all units are timeshares - many are privately owned condos.

Here is a resort map - http://www.beachvillaskauai.com/kbv_map2.html

you can reserve specific views. here is the member directory where you can view the point chart with the corresponding units and views, to get a feel for how much it would cost you MF wise, multiply $5 to $5.50 per 1000 points. So a 2br deluxe ocean view unit is 325,000 points. so, for me that would cost $5.30 X 325 = 1722.50, not nearly as good as a deal you get at $1200 (i think?) for your fixed week if I'm not mistaken. And you know you get that amazing view everytime because you get the same unit, booking thru wyndham i'm sure maybe some units have better views than others.

We don't have a fixed week, but we have 2 floating ocean front weeks & we can reserve a specific unit more than 12 mos. in advance. The MF for a 1 bdm. 2 bath unit is $1,063 per week. Since we want to return here every year, it's a good deal for us.

This is one of the resorts that will make sense to trade back into through Wyndham's new RCI Portal. It is only 224,000 points plus exchange fee instead of the 308-325 through internal booking. So you may want to book the week you want through internal booking but then put an ongoing search to see if you could get it through RCI and save some points.

ok, well a 1 bedroom ocean view is 266,000 points, so around $1400 in MF. So your still $400 less than.

Using this method, can you guarantee ocean front? - The OF view is the real attraction at this resort.

Thanks for the directory, that was very helpful. We have 266,000 Wyndham points so it looks like we can do the Ocean View if it is available for our dates. We want a one bedroom. Our MF are about $960.00 for Wyndham, so it looks like a good deal. We are VIP due to a PIC so if the OV is not available I will book standard then try for an upgrade, I got one recently for Bonnett Creek.

Doubtful. All RCI information always says they cannot guarantee view type. If booked internally through Wyndham, there will be a different point cost for garden view or ocean view and the view will be guaranteed. (If they're not full, they might upgrade you from garden to ocean, but they can't downgrade your reservation).

You mentioned value golfing. When we were there about five years ago went went to a public nine hole course. It was donated by a wealthy man who wanted people to be able to play cheaply. We paid $7 for our green fee, $7 for the cart and $7 for the clubs.....you can't beat $21 each to play golf in Hawaii. The course was rough, but we had million dollar views. We even bought chicken feed to feed those notorious Kauai chickens. I can't remember the name of the course and can't find my guide book for Kauai....hopefully someone else can chime in.

We have stayed in the north, south and east in condos. Kauai Beach Villas is a great central location.
