Just checked in today. 3rd stay in as many years at KO, but 1st use of our EOY OV owner's week. We are on the 14th floor in the Moana tower looking right down over the pool...not bad.

Was invited to do the owners 'points' presentation (of course), but declined. We went thru the brief meeting at our Timberlodge stay in July and are firm on our decision not to sign up...so we aren't interested in sitting through another presentation (despite the incentives).

I was there a week ago... I hope you have a great time. If you look in the harbor, you can see the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Carribean movies.

We'll be walking down there, so will make sure I take my camera.

Thanks

Ko Olina is BEAUIFUL, especially with the man-made lagoons right in front of the resort. ENJOY!

How does the new Disney Aulani look??? We leave a week from Sat for Maui. Have a great time.

We haven't walked down there yet, but from driving by and the view from our 14th room in Hale Moana, it appears they are putting the roof on...which means it is as tall as it is going to get...and does look HUGE!

Steve

We check in on Sunday the 19th - maybe we should ask for your unit! Can't wait till we get off that plane...

It's always nice at KoOlina!

Steve - thanks for sharing the pictures! We were there May Day - have been going for May Day since before KoOlina was built, but have been staying there ever since ... Lot's of changes - but the sunsets and views are still the same - always wonderful. We will look for pictures of the pirate ship in the harbor ...

Going to NCV this Saturday then October 16 to Waiohai! :)

Enjoy Oahu!

Aloha ...

Just got back from a 'walk around' of the Disney project, and will do that slideshow later-on today (tonight, tomorrow? ). Will probably walk down toward the harbor tomorrow morning to see the pirate ship, and then go over to the Ko Olina station to the Disney preview center to see what that is all about. Now it is lunch time and then off to the beach!

If you get some pictures of both the Disney construction and the pirate ship, I think it would be great if you could also get those online. I will be going there next year. I love seeing these pictures.

I'm jealous...

but am going to Ko Olina in February. I can't wait!

I am curious is the new shopping center open? Restuarants? Stores? What's there?

Have fun!

I was there last week and am still depressed about leaving.

There's an ABC store - same company, different name, that has some groceries and a deli section.

Mexican Restaurant
Hawaiian Local food place - pretty good btw
Ice Cream shop with 8 flavors - overpriced and I don't know how it's going to stay open unless they get more flavors and products

Disney sales office

I think that's it.

Curiously, are there any farmer's produce stands anywhere near there? I don't think I've ever been to that area before. A few years ago, when we stayed at Poipu Beach on Kauai, a local farmer farmer operated a fruit and vegetable stand on a nearby road. We would get some locally grown fruit and take it back to the condo we were staying at, cut it up, and eat it. We really enjoyed that.

I don't know of anything, unless you go back into Kapolei (about 3 miles away). You'll see fruit stands if you drive to the north shore. That side of the island is usually pretty barren - dry and rocky.

Nothing like that in Ko Olina.

Don't worry....

Slideshow of Disney construction at Ko Olina

OK, here are some shots I took this morning. They are not titled as they should be self explanatory. If you are familiar with Ko Olina, just picture that the shots are all in order of how I walked; which was north to the JW, then up the driveway of the JW to the entrance, then over to the entrance of the Ko Olina Center and Train Station shopping area, then down along the golf course and train tracks, then down the side street toward the chappel, and back to the path again and back 'home' to Marriott. So the pics of Disney are essentially a 360 slideshow.

One of these days we will go up to the Center to see the sales office.

Enjoy.

Where in Kauai is that stand? We are headed to Waiohai in November and would like some of that fruit.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

Can't wait to see Alaunai finished.

Great pictures - thanks for doing that. Ko Olina is our favorite Marriott resort - we will be back there in early November - hurray!

Don't know the name of the road the little fruit stand is on, but it is on the left as you come in to Koloa, before you get to town.

There also is a fabulous Sunshine market at the baseball field just up the road from Koloa at noon on Mondays. You can get a list of when and where all the Sunshine markets are on Kauai at one of the Kauai websites, or in some of the literature at the airport baggage pick up.

On Oahu, we went to the Sunshine market at Haleiwa, (Sunday mornings) but it could not compare to the fabulous leis, fruit, vegetables, (especially the giant avocados and pink ginger) & flower arrangements at Koloa and at Lihue. Hanalei had a smaller, but lovely market as well. We always get our papayas and lots of other gorgeous stuff at those markets, but while we were waiting for the official opening time, two of the local ladies confided to me that they never buy pineapples there, they always go to Costco!
