Are all points the same? I'm looking into buying and I want to make sure I understand correctly. What are Fair Share Points? I'm going through all the ebay listing and it is my understanding, it does not matter WHERE you buy, points are points. Is that correct? I'm looking for the most points with the lowest MF. Any other tips I should know?

That is what the points used to be called. They just remained them last year to Club Wyndham points. They are the same thing.

points are points can be used anywhere 10 months out, home resort you can book 13 months out, that is called ARP (Advanced reservation period).

Your first Wyndham purchase will determine the company, II or RCI, through which you can trade the points. Most Wyndham resorts trade through RCI but if you purchase at one of several of the Wyndham resorts you will get an II trading account.

The maintenance fees you pay yearly will depend on which resort, and in some cases which section of a resort, you purchase.

If you do purchase a Wyndham property that is affiliated with II you have to request the II membership. I bought my first contract at Star Island and Wyndham set me up with an RCI account.

That is interesting. Someone in another thread reported that Star Island changed to RCI. Do you know for sure that you could have gotten an II account if you preferred one? I wonder if other previously II resorts have changed in this way.

I just found that other thread and it would seem to answer some of my questions: http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129442&highlight=Star+Island

I have no idea if I would have been able to get one since I knew little to nothing about the exchange companies until I found this site about a year after I bought it. Because we like the Wyndham resorts, I think I prefer being in RCI to get us back into Wyndham properties for small deposits saving me points.
