Are you using "Revolution" for booking?

It's been a while since HGVC launched the new reservation tool.
I did search but could not find any similar question. So let me ask you, folks,
out of curiosity.

I, myself, use only the old one because it fills my needs and the new one
takes more time for loading before I can see the availability and take
action.

Which, old or new, do you use and would you please tell me why?

I've been mostly using Revolution since I'm an HGVC newbie and find it easier to use but I check the classic for open season.

Right now for some reason I can't get the Revolution to load, so not sure if it's working at this time. I had problems last night too. :annoyed:

I've hated the Revolution booking since they introduced it. It takes forever to load and is much harder to use. Every once in a while I'll try it again since there have been reports here of upgrades and seeing different inventory, but I still hate it. If it disappeared, I'd never miss it. The Classic system is simpler and shows more at once--and works well. This is a case of new isn't always better.

I started using the Revolution system when it was first introduced and have only used it exclusively since the beginning. It works for me. :)

Tried both prefer Revolution

I have tried both, overall, I would say Revolution is better. I have no complaints. It only takes a couple of seconds to load.

This is exactly how I feel. :wall:
I just want a quick and easy system with the least number of clicks to get to the desired end result.

I'm almost ashamed to say, but I've overcome my initial reistance to Revolution.
I like the rolling date thingy as well as the ability to modify # of days on the fly.

I'm gonn'a say that I like it better than Classic, which I must admit is
simpler and not as clunky. In fact, I prefer Classic for Open Season.

I have to wonder how long HGVC will provide two interface systems.

This also describes how I feel, exactly.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
I can see split camps here but it is interesting to hear opinions from experienced Tuggers. Like Talent312 said, I also wonder how long HGVC keeps those two tools. Probably this whole question and answers will be
very informative to HGVC. For next reservation, I may want to try
Revolution. If anyone could add opinons, please.

I concur with linsj and alwaysonvacation. Timesharing is all about flexibility and long term planning. The new system forces you to look at specific dates for what you are looking for rather than a block if time in months and planning around what actually is available. While the presentation is more "slick" in the new one, my view is they should have focused on getting all the affiliate resort availability online, rather than re-presenting the same old ones in a new system. That would have added more value.

The thing for me is that I sometimes get different inventory and it seems only to be fixed with a clean logout, shutdown of browser and a relaunch
its most annoying....

I always use revolution. It's easy and simple to me.
Doesn't take long time to load.

I pretty much only use the Revolution system. I became a new member a few months ago and figured I may as well use the new system since I assumed they would take the Classic away at some point. Although it takes awhile to load I find it pretty easy to use and like being able to quickly scroll through twelve months and watch the availability change.

All,

Both systems are pretty solid and I like them both alot.

A question: I am trying to figure out what the difference is between the units listed as available --- is this availability at the Unit Level?

Example: Waikoloa search in June 2011

I see only 3 examples for Kohala Suites: 2BR, 2BR+, 2BR Premier, with wide availability.

Does this mean there is 1 unit (and only 1?) available in each category?

I see 14 examples for KingsLand: But there are 3 1BR Plus that all appear identical in the description -- is there a subtle difference in the wording?

Finally Bay Club -- there are 28 different examples, many duplicates with identical unit description -- suggesting there are 28 different units available?

I looked at Feb 2011 as a comparison and saw only approx 15 units in Bay Club -- with most of the availability gone, suggesting this is indeed Unit Level availability -- is that the case?

Interesting, the same 3 Kohala Suites examples (and only those 3) appear in Feb, which alot of availability.

All, thanks for the input, this is a terrific reservation system.

Hi Greg,

I'll try to answer your questions but I have more experience with the Classic system than Revolution.
NOTE: I tried getting into Revolution this morning but it returned and an error message "Service Fault Received - Another instance of WebORB is running on the network. This installation supports only 2servers on the network".

Both systems are pretty solid and I like them both alot.

No, the system doesn't provide us with this information.
So we generally have no idea if only one is displayed, if it's the last one or whether several are still available. You would have to call to find out.

Yes, at least in the Classic system. So when there is more than one unit type listed I suggest comparing the descriptions. For example it could be the difference of one bed or two beds in the Master bedroom.

Finally Bay Club -- there are 28 different examples, many duplicates with identical unit description -- suggesting there are 28 different units available?

Bay Club is the exception. It is displayed differently than the other resorts.
I agree with you that it appears that Bay Club provides us with some idea of unit level availability.
I've never stayed at the HGVC resorts on the Big Island yet so I couldn't tell you if there has been different unit descriptions displayed for the Bay Club units.

AlwaysonVac,

Thank you kindly for the answers! I see now the difference in room types at Kingsland (different bed configurations, etc).

I find the Bay Club availability interesting and will continue to track for trends and information.

I definitely think this is a very user-friendly system.

Best to all,

Greg
