I've been getting several messages over the last few days from an outfit called ListingDepartment.com. It's either the cheapest up-front fee outfit yet ($50), or something a little more odd.

I just ignored the first two, as I don't really have any interest in selling right now, but the they've sent me three or four breathless "time is running out---limited opportuity" messages, mentioning one specific Festiva resort at which I own. The who thing smacks a little of desperation, and it doesn't quite smell right.

Interestingly, if you check their WHOIS registration, the domain owner is listed as:

Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States

DomainsByProxy exists only to hide one's true identity when registering for a domain, which makes me doubly suspicious that something is up. Given some of Festiva's shenanigans about getting owners to convert to points in the past, and their attempts at getting voting blocks at resorts they manage, I wonder if this is connected to them at all. Anyone know anything about this?

There is a sister company on the ListingDepartment.com site called "TheResaleListing.com" which seems to be doing a re-direct back to the ListingDepartment.com (which is what the DomainsByProxy was hired to do). WHOSIS registration on TheResaleListing.com (created 11/14/08) is:

Resale Listing LLC
PO box 1422
Lihue, Hawaii 96746

Domains By Proxy Inc. was incorporated Feb 2002. The address you listed for them is a viable address in Scottsdale. Interesting to note however that the address listed in their AZCC record (14455 N Hayden Rd, 85260) is a suite in the same building as Go Daddy. Presume Domains By Proxy and Go Daddy are closely associated.

As to the Hawaii-based TheResaleListing.com/ ListingDepartment.com .... personally wouldn't consider using them.

In September, 09, we foolishly signed with this company - and by that I mean, we provided them with the 98.00 they asked for to list our timeshare for sale or rent it. We've not heard one word from them, despite their assertations that they had buyers lined up. I was on the phone with the salesperson for close to an hour. We checked the BBB and couldn't find anything bad on them. Now, a month later, they have a BBB rating of F and as I said, we've not heard one word.

I've requested the promised guaranteed refund. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have just started receiving these messages myself. They have been delivered every day for the last four days. Festiva is now aware of them and I forwarded one of the messages to Festiva. I guess this company is still up to their shenanigans.

Still waiting for refund

I requested the refund. They explained that they hadn't had any interested buyers yet - strange, as they did say that they had buyers ready and waiting - however, I just called and requested the refund again.

Sigh.....
