Short term lease of RCI points?

Hi all,
There was a link or thread about the leasing of RCI points (short term leasing program ?). I would like to get access to RCI points and would like to learn more about this program. I think it is a trial program that you only sign a short term contract for 1 or 2 years lease (?), no long term commitment/obligation. However, I could not find the link/ad about it anymore... Can anyone forward me the information and explain a bit more about this RCI point leasing program?
I already own some Wyndham points and can I convert these points to RCI points and get access to RCI points once I sign up this RCI leasing contract?
Thanks.
Marianne

Here is the link

PS I'm moving this to the Points board were most questions about RCI points are asked.

Marianne, the lease I've thought about was a 3 year lease, renewable after that if you want. You buy a short term RTU (right-to-use) lease at a timeshare (Club Trinidad in Calif?) at whatever buy-in level you choose. That establishes your RCI Points account. And then, if you own any weeks in RCI Weeks (not listed on RCI as RCI Points resorts), you may pay a small fee to convert any of those deposits that you'd like to convert as well - and you do this one deposit at a time (no long term commitment there either). The arrangement is appealing because it's a short term commitment. If RCI changes the program or the value of the RTU weeks/points, you only need to keep with it until the end of the current lease.

Wyndham points are completely different. They do not translate or convert to RCI Points in any direct way. Are your current Wyndham points eligible for use with the Wyndham PlusPartners program? If you bought after October 2002 (I think) and you purchased any of your points from the developer, they should be eligible. If not, you may convert your account to PlusPartners through corporate Wyndham but it costs $2,395 and you have to locate a salesperson at corporate to do it for you. With PlusPartners, you gain access to all the RCI Points inventory. But instead of using RCI Points (and the individual resorts' points charts) to make your reservation, you use Wyndham points in the amounts that are currently on the Wyndham exchange company deposits chart (ex., red 1BR = 105K Wyn pts). HTH.

Marianne, I recently stepped into the shallow end of the timeshare pool by purchasing a 3 year lease of 82K RCI points. After reading about it on the boards, my husband and I decided it would be the best way to give this a try. I contacted Bill Riney - you can find his ads in the marketplace section of TUG. I submitted my applications and payment on June 4 and was told it would be 30 days, start-to-finish, until my points would be available for use. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case but I'm hopeful that it's just summertime busy season and it won't be long. Not passing judgement yet...while Bill has not responded to my email requests for update I'm hoping that it's an oversight and maybe he's on vacation or something. The entire lease program, and Bill as well, have had nothing but positive remarks on these boards and that carried a lot of weight with our decision. Hope this is of some help.

Assumming Bill has submitted all the paperwork for the RCI membership, the availablility of the Points is now in the hands of RCI.

thank you everyone

Hi all,
Thank you everyone for the information/help...
I currently own lots of Wyndham points and only have access to RCI week account. However, I am recently able to reserve several weeks (in California, 2 bedroom unit) for my in-law next year, using my blue studio deposits (28k). The resort is not a luxury one, but it is clean and decent (I checked out the resort myself), so I am happy. Perhaps in the near future, I will consider to lease RCI points.
Can any fellow Tuggers share with me (and others) their past experiences (good, bad, so so etc) with the available RCI lease programs?
Again, thank you all!!

I have been interested in buying 3 year lease and sent him a e-mail. It was 4,5days ago.

I've received no response from him.

Try emailing him directly at bill_riney@yahoo.com There is an underscore between his first and last names.

Many of my TUG emails go into the junk email folder, which I have set to empty every day, and I know I miss emails from people who send from TUG.

RCI points timeshare lease

I just talked with Club Trinidad who verified that all my paperwork for the 3 year RTU lease had been sent to RCI on June 29, 2009, and that RCI was taking longer than usual to process the paperwork. :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

Any update?

Hi Tricia, just wondering if your 3-year lease got finalized? I am interested in this program but have been told I need to wait until October for inventory to become available. If you can give an update on your recent experiences, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might want to try and PM/email Tricia, looks like her last post here was that one in July.

I did finalize my lease last month. It wasn't a completely easy experience but I'm still glad I did it. As best as I can understand, Bill Riney is simply a facilitator that puts you in touch with Club Trinidad, and once that's done he's out of the picture. I dealt with Edna at CT from that point on and, while she's a wonderfully nice lady, I think she's a little overwhelmed - I had a hard time getting answers. I finally called RCI directly to learn that I had been enrolled and to get account numbers, etc. It's still a little weird because I have YET to receive a 'lease agreement' from Club Trinidad (Bill had sent me a sample agreement with a note that I would receive one after RCI accepted my application). :annoyed: I've emailed Edna and of course I've saved every bit of correspondence. But I have points available (although my use year doesn't start until 1/1/10 - another long story) and I made my first reservation for Easter week in 2010. Overall, I'm happy with the experience primarily because it is allowing me to test the waters. Hope this helps; feel free to PM if you have any more questions!

We happened to be going to Palm Springs a few weeks after we decided to do the points for lease so we met with Edna and did everything right there at Club Trinidad. Maybe because we already have a points account it went faster. We are going into our 3rd year and have had no problems. I'm sure we'll pay $99 and extend it for another 3 years.

Lookin4info and LynnW, thanks for the info. I am pretty sure we'll try this lease out to see how we like the TS lifestyle. This seems like the perfect entry option. LynnW, how was the actual Club Trinidad? It looks a bit dumpy online - would you ever stay there or is it just a way to get into (or add to) the points options.

Lookin4info, where did you make your Easter reservations at? Somewhere close to home or somewhere farther away? How difficult was it to do? I hope you get all the final documents signed and sealed soon!!

Please keep me updated as we continue our research for the October inventory.

Club Trinidad is an older resort and we probably would never stay there as there are so many other choices in the Palm Springs area.

Lynn

This is really just an opening into RCI Points for most people, but Bill Riney owns at the resort and has a fondness for it.

The link is now broken - it may be a discontinued program ???

Temporarily out of points packages is what I heard

I corresponded with a fellow BG owner recently who was interested in the RCI Points for Deposit, and he said that Bill was temporarily out of inventory for RCI Points leases. I can't remember when he said he'd have stock again, but I think it was late fall.

I booked a 1 BR Palm Beach Shores Resort in FL. I live in Delaware so it's an easy flight to warm weather (I hope). It was very easy to make the reservation, even though I was borrowing points at that time to do so... the website just walked me right through it. Good luck, and I hope the lease opportunity opens again soon for you! :cheer:

He has to wait a while to do new ones, but I think the reason was that this is the high season for the resort, being in the desert of California, so he would have to wait a while to establish new accounts.

He was hoping to get everyone interested to sign up by July 1st.
