We bought into MRO (Multi Resorts Ownership)which has now been bought by Vacation Resorts. We do not have a home property. Any help on selling this or getting out of it?

Hi and welcome to TUG! :hi:

Because of the economy, most timeshares are selling for 0-10% of original retail, and the market is flooded with resales. so it's a really tough time to sell a timeshare.

Here's how to find out what your timeshare is selling for on the resale market:

1) Register with eBay
2) Log into eBay
3) Search for the resort by exact name
4) Click on "completed listings" on the menu on the left

(Be sure you look at the completed listings - those are actually SELLING prices - you will find asking prices all over the place, but what really counts is what they actually sold for.)

Here is a link to the last 2 MROP auctions which were offered for $49.79, but got no bids.

If you poke around a bit, you will see that there are more than 300 timeshares listed on ebay for $0-100 - most with no bids. Many people are having a hard time even giving away their timeshares these days.

If you discover that your TS has no resale value, it may be possible to give it away, if it is paid off, and all your fees are up to date. Let us know if you want more info. on that.

On the other hand, if you don't have to get rid of this timeshare, we can definitely help you get more use out of it. Let us know if you want more info. on that.

Whatever you do, don't pay someone an upfront fee to sell your timeshares - that's always a scam!

MROP has been managed by VRI for some time. (not owned) The owners own it. Whereas you don't actually own anything, I am told you can simply surrender your membership. Call the SLC office for details. As DeniseM said, timeshares today have little of no salable value.

I have a class 'B' membership, and it works for me. For $634 total MF, I will have a week in PV and a week in Maui this year. One benefit of VRI management is no cost access to VRI*ety exchanges at very low cost.
