Do you usually get the unit assigned when you trade into the Royal Islander in Cancun? I know there can be occasional maintenance issues with a unit. It's been years since we traded in and we used to always get the unit we were assigned. I just wanted to know if this is still typically the case. Thank you.

Yes you do as owners own fixed weeks.

I traded in to the Islander last January and was in the unit that was assigned.

Hmmm...no unit assigned

Hmmm.....We have an II trade into Royal islander for Jan 2016, with no unit assigned. Does that mean we get one of the dregs?

I really don't think that there are any "dregs" at the Royal Islander.

I'm sure that you will be happy with your assignment.

I see our assigned unit in my online Interval exchange history. It is not listed on my confirmation. I'm going to print it out and take that with me as well as the confirmation. It's a good unit. :)

Usually, not always.

If someone gets there earlier and asks for a diff location than their II matched trade and IF there are other II deposits available, they could get swapped into your II matched trade.

There are a few RI locations behind the restaurants where the view is partly blocked. Or if someone is scared of heights, or doesn't want kids wandering out of GF, etc, high or low may be less desirable to them. Or if someone has traded into consecutive weeks and hopes for the same unit or very close. Good reasons to hope for a swap if possible.

If location is important then email recepcionri@royalresorts.com and ask pretty please. Note recepcion has a c not t in cion. That'll get you the front desk mgr. do this the week prior, by T or W.

Thank you so much… I used the map and it does overlook the pool area. Since there is so much availability at this resort next year, I just wanted to make sure my family would love this resort and location

slight change....

4241

4 is Royal Islander (fourth Royal Resort)
2 is building#
4 is floor
1 is unit

It's a good location. There are no dregs. Higher = better view, lower = more convenient, but you can see the ocean from all villas.
