We were just there in May. 2 couples. We loved it. If you like American food, this is the place. They have a great burger bar, pizza, and a good steak house. Plenty of good options at the buffet. Service was always great. I can't believe how fast and hard-working those waiters are! American servers should go there for training.
The pools are typically crowded but not overwhelming. The beach was great. The farther south on the hotel strip is typically better beaches. We would go back and our picky 14 year old would not go hungry there.
As for rooms, you MUST upgrade to the crown club. Can't say enough about the perks of it. Exclusive lounge, adult only floors = quiet, no kids running around (important because this is mainly a family resort). And the crown club room is killer. I noticed in the reviews that normal rooms got not so good reviews, but all the reviews from crown club rooms were great. This is definitely true!!
Overall, great place for families or if a couple great also with crown club room.
