Anyone know anything about the 3 bedroom units here?
What is the layout? How nice are the rooms? Thanks!

To answer your questions

Most of the 3 br units at HDLV are in the Annex building. They are very nice, but not Marriott plush. Each bedroom has its own wall mounted flat screen. You enter into the kitchen where there is a very large open living room and dining room. The bedrooms are on your right with 2 full bathrooms. Some have recently been refurbished. The big negative is that there is only a 30 gal. hot water tank so getting hot showers for everyone takes some planning. I asked the developer about this issue and his explanation was the Annex burned during the Katrina time, and he did the best he could in rebuilding quickly to accommodate property owners. I think there may be a few 3 bedroom units in the main building. I own a 3 br unit in the next door Annex so please email me if you have more questions. Zee zzcn69@yahoo.com

Thanks for your input. I had heard the Annex burned during Katrina - so I was guessing those units must be pretty new (didn't know how long it took them to rebuild). I understand from staying in older buildings in the French Quarter that there are limitations that newly built hotels don't have, so that doesn't bother me. I mainly look for clean, good location, pleasent staff, etc. when staying in the New Orleans French Quarter. However, I was mostly asking for my Mom as she would like to travel with another couple to New Orleans at some point and has been really wanting to find a unit that has not only 2 bedrooms - but also 2 bathrooms. Those are quite rare. The Quarterhouse has some and Club La Pension has some 1.5 bath units. So, thought maybe this was one property that could accomodate that. My concern of course is that this property gets really mixed reviews and she reads those carefully. Some of the reviews are just terrible, and some are much better and just remind people to keep expectations low and don't expect the Ritz. So, I was trying to get a better feel for the layout - which you graciously provided - and a reason why some folks really don't like this place at all..........
Again, many thanks.

I own a 2 bedroom in the annex. I have never stayed there but did visit the property and got a tour the last time I was in New Orleans.

My impression of this place is that its a dump. It reminded me of some of the slum apartments I used to own in Baltimore. Ill never stay there if I have other choices, and I do, I own at Wyndhams La Bell Maison and Avenue Plaza as well as Jean La Fitte House, and Club La Pension,

2 bedroom 2 bath suites are rare in New Orleans timeshares. If it was me Id look for two units at another property,

Thanks for your input. When you say it was a dump and reminded you of a slum apartment - was it not clean, or were things broken? I am surprised being that it is a relatively new building for timeshares in the French Quarter. Location looked pretty good.

I know that 2 bedroom/2 baths are rare. It has been difficult finding something like that for Mom to trade into. I am sure it is a challenge owning a timeshare in New Orleans - old buildings to contend with, rowdy guests, etc.

What do you think of the Lafitte House? I have seen that listed on RCI and always wondered about that one. I have heard good things about La Bell - if it is the one I am thinking of. And we always enjoy Bluegreen's property - they did a nice job on the renovations, in my opinion.

regarding Hotel De L Eaue Vive It may have been the decor...It just didnt feel right. I used to be a slum landlord, and all my places were clean and everything worked, so thats not my criticism...Im sure everything worked and was clean....but everything I did in my places was done as cheaply as I could get away with, cheap paint, cheap light fixtures, cheap hardware, etc. so I could keep rent cheap too...... Thats the way this place seemed to me..low budget, I had been touring all my holdings in New Orleans, so maybe this place was ok, but just didnt measure up to the competition. I probably shouldnt have been so harsh in my criticism...Lets just say : If I had a choice Id go somewhere else. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor. They all talk about the location being great,,,this one could have been written by me

Stayed here with a friends timeshare the first thing waking in the furniture in the lobby was mix matched and dirty, you could see head prints on the furniture, had not been cleaned in years. Once in the "suite" two bedrooms one TV in the living area. The table in the living area had duck tape on it. The Jacuzzi shower head had stuff growing out of it and the couch cushion had white on it and I refused to even sit on it, glad I brought a blow up queen mattress. Don't even let me talk about the condition of the 3,000 year old building, paint and mortar could do a lot of good for this place. By the way get some ice machines so you don't have to go all way down to the front desk for ice, and lights on the elevator will also do some good. I was glad to get out of there a day early.

and this one too

As others have written this hotel should not be able to be used to trade without Interval International issuing a warning. My husband and I decided to come to New Orleans on a resort point trade. The first room we were given #102 was on the 1st floor. Looks like part of the original hotel. When we first saw it we thought it was not so bad until we realized that we were right next door to the elevator motor and the toilet ran all night. We asked to change rooms the next day but nothing was available till the 3rd day. This room is no better down a corridor on the 4th floor behind the elevator. Seems to be in another building. The walls are so thin that you think you are in the same room as the guest in the next room since you can hear all their conversations. The refrigerator sounds like a generator and this toilets runs all night too. The only good thing I can say is that the location is the best. Close to the casino, French Quarter, and street cars. Not up to Interval standards and not a place we will come back to.

Regarding Jean La Fitte House (on Esplanade) I didnt stay here either, but I liked it a lot...It is also a very old building but it retained its historic charm.

La Belle Maison is a essentially a new building ,built behind the facade of an old historic building and built in the style of old New Orleans. If it was my mom Id try to get her in here except most rooms dont have a proper kitchen. . or Avenue Plaza. Avenue Plaza is only about 60 years old, so by New Orleans standards, nearly new. Its in the Garden District which I like better for the quiet, The courtyard is very nice as is the rooftop deck..But there are no 2 bedrooms here. A one bedroom and a studio would meet your needs.

We stayed at this hotel several years ago. There were improvements being made at the time. We gave it a decent enough rating on TripAdvisor because our room was nice and the location is good.

However, if the improvements stopped and everything has remained static, this place may be a dump by now.

We heard some rumors about the owner. Milking the place for the money and getting by on the cheap may be what he is about.
