Funny that we've never yet actually been to New Bern since our first Wyndham points contract (purchased in the 1990's) is from there 
but we've always used the points for other destinations. Now DH and I (active, in our early 50's) are planning a week there, as a couple, in May. Here are some of our plans:
Sailing - by the day or by the hour - which rental company?
Tryon Palace tour - we've enjoyed St Augustine FL, Williamsburg VA, Old Salem NC, Mount Vernon VA - along these lines, other ideas?
Long day visit to Ocracoke on the OBX - is this doable?
Bicycle rentals - not sure if bringing ours because they're heavier mountain bikes, valuable - which rental company?
Other ideas for the New Bern area?
We like walking, biking, all kinds of boating, nature parks, exploring beautiful places and interesting, well-managed, historical sites. Golf and expensive restaurants are only occasionally part of our vacations, as we prefer to spend more on sightseeing and sailing. Thanks in advance.
