For those of you who have rented or rented out a week in January at a Marriott or equivalent resort in a prime US ski location (either on TUG or redweek or even through a broker), when do you think demand is highest? Do prices rise or fall as it gets closer to the week? Is it better to try to book earlier or later?

I would recommend that you log onto Interval, and find the resort where you want to rent, and click on the Travel Demand link in the resort description - it will show you the highest demand week during ski season - which is going to be Chistmas and New Years, and then probably President's week.

Then go to Redweek and look at the Comps.

It's always better to book early - later it will not be available.

I've rented a lot of ski weeks in Vail. I think the highest demand week is 52, then 51, 10-12, 7, 8-9 in that order. I think weeks 1-6 are lower demand than these. You have to book the highest demand weeks a year in advance or you might not get them.
