new to forum and looking for information on a company called Southbridge Realty in Georgia that claims they will buy one of my timeshares in Cancun.

I was thinking about getting out from under this one but cant find info to see if this is legit.

Any direction appreciated.

Hi Dimer, and welcome to TUG:

There is a simple test for any timeshare business offers:

If they want you to pay ANY fees upfront, no matter what they call them, that's a HUGE red flag.

REPUTABLE brokers take all fees out of the proceeds of the sale - you should pay nothing.

This is true even if they claim that your funds will go in THEIR escrow acct., and be reimbursed to you at closing.

They may call these "fees," taxes, commission, title search, Doc. preparation, or a host of other names - it's all bogus...

Another red flag is if they have said there is an offer for LOTS of money. Go to eBay, sign in, enter your rsort name in the search window, then look at completed auctions down the left side. Most Mexican timeshares sell for pennies on the dollar- if at all. If you see sales for $1, ask yourself why this 'realty' outfit's buyer doesn't just buy one on eBay.

The advice given by the other posts is all excellent. One thing to remember; if it sounds too good to be true then it likely isn't....
