Hi Tuggers, We are letting our DD and SIL use our timeshare in Warren, Vermont. We have not been there in many years, usually trade for other places. Wondering if any of you have been to the Warren area lately? Would like some suggestions of places to see and things to do. They are looking forward to going to Vermont. They will be there beginning July 5th! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Mad River Valley and Surrounding Areas

For starters, check out the local newspaper, the Valley Reporter, it has a calendar of upcoming events as well as links to other possibilities in the Mad River Valley. Killington is an hour south, Stowe an hour north, and Burlington an hour northwest. Check out websites for these areas also. Lake Champlain is also available for exploring. Another site to check is the state's Travel & Recreation page. You will get a general ideas of what's around. A lot depends on your interests and how active you want to be. There is something for everyone, your just have to do a little investigating.

They will be there a week. They enjoy outdoor activities, biking, tennis, swimming, zip lines, hiking. They plan a trip to Mad River Distiller and Ben and Jerry's. Thanks for the suggestions, I will forward them along!

A day trip to Ft. Ticonderoga, I think there is a museum in Shelbourne.

I have hiked and biked this area for years. For good hikes go to the two gaps (Lincoln and Appalachian) and hike either way. Climbing Mount Stark VIA Mad River Glen ski area is a good one.

If they Mountain Bike go to Mad river riders web site and get the maps of the trails. If they want specific route recommendations for biking or hiking contact me with their general wants and abilities and I will recommend something.

Any chance they can be there on the 4th? Warren has one of the best 4th of July parades ever.
