Anyone know/have any comments about this resort? It is in the Dominican Republic. Is it popular? Is it in demand? It is one of the many Melia Vacation Club resorts.

It might help if you gave us some more information about why you are asking. Are you thinking of buying this resort as a trader? Is someone offering to give it to you?

Sorry. I'm a newbie to all this blogging and am leery of everything. I own a RTU timeshare at Paradisus Palma Real and was curious as to what the TS community had to say about it. I'm unsure about what to do with it. It's beautiful and pricey. It's a vacation club and not limited to any specific time of year or even the same resort. It's an extensive network. Not sure if renting would be the way to go or just outright sell. I'll keep reading comments and learning about this TUG site to decide on what to do. I welcome any suggestions or words of encouragement.

I know NOTHING about the resort, or your "vacation Club". BUT, right now, selling a timeshare, especially a RTU, is almost impossible ---at least for any "real" $$$. Maybe you could get rid if it for under $100. (You might have to PAY someone to take what you own !!!)

As far as renting --- do you mean that you want to rent your time to someone else? That might be possible, BUT, where will you find a renter? There are "many" companies that want YOU to pay "big bucks" to them, for their "guarantee" of renting it. SCAM !!! DO NOT pay a company an upfront fee to rent your unit. You will be just losing your $$$.

If you are no longer using this week, you should look into how to sell. There is a lot of information here at TUG, but you may have to give your timeshare away. Renting it out is a good option in the meantime, but I am a big believer in not keeping timeshares you don't plan on using. Your best bet is to try and get out while you can. You may need to pay the transfer costs and/or a year's worth of dues in order to get someone else to take it on.

It is also a good idea to reserve a high-demand week to make it more attractive to a prospective new owner. This week could also be rented if you are unable to unload the ownership.

This is a vacation club with high maintenance fees, and no underlying deeded ownership, so to be quite honest with you, you will have a hard time even giving it away. As I recall, it also has a mandatory all-inclusive fee.
