Make sense buying a "cheap" defaulted unit without residual rights??

I'm considering buying a unit at the Royal Caribbean, Wk 27, ground floor directly from the developer at a considerable discount. This is the week and location I need but not sure if giving up residual rights is a good option. There's 7 years left on this property and have no idea what the residual would be in the end. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

You can likely find a resale timeshare for less than what the developerwill ask (and it won't have any payments left on it). eBay and Resale are your friends. Residual value will be $0.

Residual value is not "guaranteed". If resort is not sold, there's no money for owners.
I have seen the exact same week on ebay several months ago (in April -May) and it was sold for around $2000.
