We love this place. It's why I took the name Makai Guy here on the board, after all. We hate to give this up but health problems are making distant travel increasingly difficult for us. It would make us happy to pass the enjoyment of this resort on to another TUGger.

Of all the Hawaiian Islands, we love Kauai best. And, to us, the best part of Kauai is its North Shore -- that's why we bought here. For an idea of what there is to see and do in the area, see the link in my signature block below.

This is a 1 br, 1 bath unit in the Makai Club Condos, located in Princeville, on the scenic North Shore of Kauai. It is a floating red week that has not been converted to points. Management is now by Grand Pacific, providing owners the ability to exchange through GP's lower cost internal trade system as well as RCI Weeks. We've always found this trades very well with RCI and we nearly always can get nice 2br units in exchange.

Approximately 580 sq.ft., includes washer and dryer in the unit and wi-fi.

Makai Club was completely refurbished in the last couple of years, and the special assessment for this has been paid in full.

Maintenance fees are $974 a year, paid in two 6-month payments, currently paid up through the end of 2015.

We will pay any closing costs and transfer fees.

Deed Back

How did the deed back work for you if you don't mind me asking?

Went great, and we're out from under. We deeded both this and a two bedroom Makai Club Condo back to Grand Pacific. We did have to pay for title searches but the combined total was a touch under the next six months combined maintenance fees we were going to have to pay so we didn't mind all that much.

We started talking to them in June, and paid the fee. Title came up clean and we had the deeds to sign by end of July. Deeds were filed with Hawaii by end of September.

To start this whole thing we called Makai Club to ask if they'd consider taking deed backs. They referred us to a contact at Advanced Financial who had to check and see whether they were currently taking any Makai Clubs back. I got the impression this varied, depending on how many units they were holding onto at the time.
