I was just contacted by YOUR TRAVEL RENTALS who claim to get up to $800 for each of my 12 RCI Getaway Weeks if I pay them $99 upfront for each week and they sell them to corporations at conventions. This one is new to me and I can't find a website so I assume this is another scam. Anyone with experience in something like this?

One major problem, scam or not...

1. Neither you nor anyone else can "rent out" Getaway weeks (which are not "owned" and therefore can't be "rented out" in the first place). Those are RCI terms and conditions (i.e., not just my personal opinion).

2. Another "clue" that this is a scam is that you likely don't even have 12 Getaway weeks in the first place (...you may not even belong to RCI at all, for that matter).

3. Even if this razzamatazz call wasn't a scam (as it most certainly is), see item 1. above. 'Nuff said....

Any company that contacts you about renting/selling your timeshare is a scam.

Just had the same call.... since I never belonged to RCI, I am wondering how I have 12 getaway weeks. Hmm, maybe I should have listened to the sales pitch, instead they heard a dial tone....:hysterical:

I just got the same phone call from 'Getaway Dreams Vacations' with the same pitch. I did listen, but, sounded too much like a scam. I was an RCI member but am not anymore. They insisted I have 12 getaway weeks. She kept mentioning Windham and that I will get these weeks each year, but, not sure why. She said if I agreed, they bring RCI on the phone for me to relinquish. They guaranteed me 10 weeks would be sold for $900 and my 1st check would come in 30 days. Rest of the $$$ in 60 days. I would also get a contract to review and sign. $99 per week paid up front, but, she insisted I get that back. Have to admit I was tempted, but, backed out. I'd love to hear form someone who actually did this just to see if it is definitely a scam.

There is NO doubt that it's a scam:

RCI does not allow you to rent getaways or exchanges.

It would be the easiest thing in the world for them to get one of their cronies on the line, claim to be RCI, and make you think RCI was OK'ing the deal.

Any company that charges a large upfront fee is a scammer - period.

DEFINITELY a scam! If you have their phone number, call RCI and ask if they have a "Fraud Department" or someone who can assist you with a fraud complaint. Then report what was offered to you and let RCI pursue them.

Yep, Just another Scam. I just had the same call yesterday, my wife handled the call and when she was finished she told me that it was just another scam. These scam artists must share the same information about people who own timeshares.
Don't fall for the scam.

They have a website, etc., but is a totally bogus company. Would be interested to find out how to officially report a fraudulent company. We very stupidly fell for their "crap". We are in the process of trying to get our almost $1,200 back from the cc company. Their phone numbers and website are all fake!!! The old addage "sounds to good to be true, is too good to be true" definitely applies here!!!
