Hello All...
I wanted to drop in and say I've sold my Harbour Point timeshare. I had looked at a couple of PCCs, heard their spiels, but eventually followed the advice here from Denise and others.
The main issue with Harbour Point, for us, was that trading itself just doesn't suit us. I have narrow windows when I can travel (kids, jobs, seasons, life) and particular places and resorts I'm interested in. Anything but a top trader just isn't a formula for success with our inflexibility. The unit traded okay for comparables - mid tier resorts, lower seasons. That's just not when/where we wanted to go places. I also only like high end views, and with II that is seemingly unpredictable (for that reason, I won't trade our strong weeks either).
I listed the unit for $1 here and a couple other sites (myresortnetwork, redweek). I offered to pay closing costs and first year maintenance. The full cost for the ads on three sites was probably around 100-150. The cost to transfer was around $350. Of course, I paid the current year of maintenance as an incentive, while the recipient gets occupancy.
I received about 15 total inquiries. The most from myresortnetwork, tug 2nd, and redweek third. Around the 10th agreed to take the unit within about 4 to 6 weeks of the original ads. Two others later indicated they would like to hear if the deal fell through.
The recipient has another Hilton Head timeshare around the same time period (winter holidays). They want to stay multiple weeks in Hilton Head around that time. I hope they enjoy it.
The closing and transfer process is now complete. Given that I had recently purchased a couple of other timeshares, I am pleased to have only weeks that we want and will mostly use. They also rent easily if we don't need them.
Thanks again to everyone here for advice along the way.
