Looking for options/advice what we should do with our 238,000 points for 2016. We got the deed in our name late February and already booked our vacations for 2016. I'm thinking the best bet is to deposit them into RCI

So you have used your 2016 points, or Not? You stated, "We got the deed in our name late February and already booked our vacations for 2016."

Or, are these additional points in 2016 you are not using?

other than using the points, (its only July) RCI is your only choice

You could make your 2016 points available for cost if you would like to avoid a surplus of points

depositing canx points into RCI

I may be changing jobs & might have to cancel my late October vacation this year. It's my understanding I have to use the cancelled points by the end of the year or lose them, with the only exception being to deposit into RCI.

The potential job is with an airline & Nov & Dec are busy months so that may be what I have to do.

I remember reading about those deposits a while back & hoped I would never need to do that because it looked like a lot of trouble, but it's gotta beat losing my points.

My RCI membership is Weeks & my points are resale, if either of those matter. If there's a thread, sticky, etc. to walk me through this I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Thank you!

Cancelled Credit Pool Points

Update ~ I called Wyndham & the rep told me that if I cancel my October vacation at least 15 days before check-in, the points (which were originally 2015 points that I credit pooled a few days before 1/1/15) will go back to my account with an expiration date of December 24, 2017 - which is 3 years from the date I credit pooled my 2015 points - I have an odd-year only contract.

I was expecting the canx points to expire 12/31/16 so this sounds too good to be true - might be the only advantage of every-other-year contracts! Can anyone verify this is correct? If not I will do the usual call back & see if I get a different answer.

All points put in the credit pool are good for 3 years regardless of the type of contract.

Points go back to where they came from on cancelled reservations . You made your reservation with credit pooled points so when you cancel the points go back to credit pool with the same experation date. Also ounce you credit pool points that's it they can't be deposited into RCI

Thank you! This is great for me as I'd rather use the points in the Wyndham system & I will have almost all of 2017 to do that.

Love RCI for Extra Vacations & hope to do more of them now that I'll be working for an airline.

Start looking for a good reservation now. Some weeks (e.g., Spring Break) are already pretty well booked at many resorts.

Good idea! I will be avoiding spring break, holidays etc. though as my flight benefits are standby + I prefer less-busy travel times anyway.
