Wyndham vs Disney

Never thought I'd say it but I prefer Wyndham over Disney when it comes to timeshares. Wyndham is in the timeshare business and it shows with the quality of furnishings, organization of amenities, housekeeping, etc... Having stayed at Disney saratoga springs, I am disappointed in the lake of furnishings, disorganization of information, and poor housekeeping standards. The quality of furnishings is below what I expected as well. Maybe it's just saratoga springs but so far I am glad I own with Wyndham.

So far the bestwhole Disney experience is about getting the extra dollars from you.

I've also learned that the RCI Disney experience is different than the regular Disney experience. Apparently our calls were routed to different people with different levels of training.

Hopefully this is more of a saratoga springs thing than a Disney thing but I would love to get your feedback!

I prefer the Marriott resorts, Vistana Villages and Hilton resorts over Disney resorts; however, when we have the kids and grandkids with us, we will squeeze into one bedroom units for the transportation to/from the parks.

We stayed at Bonnet Creek through exchange and had a less-than-wonderful experience. The internet really is not good at BC. Marriott and Vistana have great internet.

When it's just Rick and me, unless we can get Wilderness Lodge or Old Key West, I will take these other brands ahead of Disney.

Wilderness Lodge is so wonderful, I have to say, it's probably the next DVC we will purchase resale.

OP: I agree!

DVC is all about "location, location, location" at WDW and Disneyland Resort. But, take away the location ("walk to the parks!") and the resort/units are only just a smidge above the timeshare "mid-point" for quality, size and fittings.

I've often felt disappointed by the DVC room and been "wowed!" when visiting a Worldmark unit soon after a DVC visit. For starters ...
  • Many (most?) Wordmark studio units have a laundry in the room. Yeah.
  • Most Worldmark studio units have a far better kitchen than the DVC kitchenette. Normal size refrigerator, range top, real dishes, etc.
  • Most Worldmark units, of any size, have a BBQ on the deck.
  • Website? Oh, my ... poor DVC just can't keep theirs working.
  • Worldmark 2BR units give a choice of sleeping configurations in the 2nd bedroom: twins or queen. You know what you are getting at time of booking.
  • Worldmark provides more unit types -- up to 4BR Presidential.
On the other hand, DVC used to have jetted tubs in all 1BR and larger units; used to have ceiling fans and used to have lovely, unique, theming for each property. These were, while they lasted, pretty special!

I am pretty wowed at the villas grand california and grand floridian.
I am at Grand california and the 1br has a jetted tub.
But i agree that marriott and hilton units are superior to dvc in furnishings and size. But as someone else commeted, dvc is about location.

I agree with the last two posters... Just glad I didn't pay rack rates for Dvc! Can't even imagine paying that much for that level of accommodation!

I am at Grand california and the 1br has a jetted tub.
Recent room renovations at Beach Club and Boardwalk have removed both the jetted tubs and ceiling fans with indications that is will be carried out across the board as resort/room renovations are rolled out through the system. :(
