Give Mexico TS back to developer?

Hello,

Been a TUG reader for a long time but finally decided to join. We recently bought 12,600 Hilton points on resale market and no longer have use for an every other year TS in Mexico.

I own the TS free and clear and would like to just give the TS back to developer rather than try to find someone to take it over. It's a Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach TS.

Could anyone provide guidance on how to do this?

Thanks!

Thank you. For $500 cancellation fee Pueblo Bonito will take back the timeshare no questions asked. For us it's worth it to not have to bother.

I received the cancellation paperwork and would be happy to provide to others if anyone wants to cancel a Pueblo Bonito TS.

Thanks!

I'm confused - if you already have the info., what were you asking in post #1?

There is a Facebook page for Pueblo Bonito owners that might be useful in selling or renting units there or getting information about the resorts for upcoming visits. It's a closed group, but you can request to be added to the group.

Although I don't own this resort, thank you for posting what you found out! That creates a searchable record for others with the same question, so you probably helped a bunch of people in the future.

After reading the article in post #2 I contacted the resort and found out about the $500 cancellation policy.
Just an FYI for others who own Pueblo Bonito and want to relinquish their ownership: The transfer process is quite easy because the resort is right-to-use (RTU) and not a deeded property like in the U.S. As such, the transfer is handled by the resort and basically is just changing the names on the ownership certificate. There is no deed to record anywhere.

The transfer fee is determined by what was written into the original purchase contract. Most recent sales state that the transfer fee is $500, but earlier sales had only a $100 transfer fee. They will adhere to what amount was written in the original sales contract.

This info pertains to regular sales or transfers of ownership. The $500 cancellation policy may be handled differently.

If any PB owners are thinking of relinquishing their ownership, before just cancelling it with the resort and paying the $500 fee, you might try offering it on the Pueblo Bonito Owners Facebook page. There is still some value there that others who are familiar with the resorts are happy to pay. Someone else might be glad to at least pay the $500 cancellation/transfer fee.
