Owners Club Hilton Head

Need advise from anyone that's stayed at this resort recently. The resort review section doesn't have anything current (last post was in 3/2007). Is this a nice resort to visit? I have a 3 bedroom unit for 3/15/2009 (Sunday) on hold through RCI and we've not stayed at this resort before. We like the north end of the island and will be at Island Dunes the week of 3/21/09. Is the cleaning fee worth it? That fee on top of our maintenance fee and the trade fee from RCI would make this a pricey week. Is the pool heated and close to the homes? We will have our daughters with us and they may bring a friend along so the layout sounds perfect for us. We don't golf and that seems to be the main activity here. It also seems to be quite a distance from the beach and I don't know where we'd get access to it from this resort. We typically enjoy the pool as much as the beach but love early morning walks or bike rides on the sand. Are there bikes with these units? Any help or info would be appreciated.

Owners Club

The homes at Owners Club are beautiful. The last time we stayed there, there was no cleaning fee. The owners voted to charge that after our stay. If you have points, I would suggest doing an on going search for short dated(45 days) weeks in the off season. I have seen weeks at Owners club occasionally. You pay $164 plus 7500-9000 points (plus the cleaning fee on departure). You do not trade your "week". I would love to go back, but I will not pay the unreasonable cleaning fee. It's the principal of the thing.

pool

The pool is behind the clubhouse. If your home is nearby, it would be a short walk. If you had several things to carry, you could drive a short distance to clubhouse & park. I believe all the houses are within walking distance. If you know what unit you have, call O.C. to find out if it is closer or farther away from clubhouse.

Thanks for the info but we decided to not take this trade, mostly due to the cost of the cleaning fee. When you add that on top of the trade fee and our own maintenance fees the cost is pretty high. We may as well wait to see if something else comes along or else purchase a vacation escape through RCI at a resort that's closer to the beach.
