Since your question isn't about buying, selling, or renting, I'm going to move your post to the SC area forum, where you will get expert help.

Barony Beach is very lovely - next to the Westin (which is elegant). There are lots of activities depending upon your interests. A booklet entitled, "101 things to do on Hilton Head" is worth getting. You can pick it up at most tourist info centers. Many water sports; can rent kayaks, water bikes, etc. There's a game center mid-Island on the corner of Folley Field Road - batting cages, mini golf, driving range, video games, etc. There is also a water Park closer to Forest Beach. Renting bikes is a MUST!!!! The entire island is bike friendly. And of, course, there's the beach and the pools!!!

Savannah is a fun day trip either by boat or by car.

Enjoy. We love HHI!!!!

We will also be in HHI (Waterside) the second week of August, beginning the 9th. This will be our 6th trip to the island. Our kids (now 18, 13 and 11) love the biking, mini golf, swimming in pools & oceans, playing tennis, and hanging out at Coligny Plaza. We visited friends who stayed at Barony....and it was a great resort. You will find lots to do on the island. We did a lot of the "sightseeing" on our first trip; but decided we just preferred the "laid back" atmosphere; and on subsequent trips, just relaxed at the resort or on the beach. My husband and youngest son do enjoy golfing, and try to play a few rounds while on the island. We've done 2 dolphin tours...both w/ "Island Explorer" (smaller crafts, only takes 6 passengers).

You will have a great time in HHI!

We stayed at the Barony in Aug 2006 and absolutely loved it. My kids were a 14yo boy and 10yo girl at the time. They both loved the shuffleboard in the shade over by the main pools, outdoor pool table and ping pong.

The beach was very wide and had perfect swimming conditions. We rented 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas for the week and really enjoyed it. They have a popcorn machine in the lobby that had free bags available most all the time that they loved. The main pool bar had hamburgers and hotdogs grilling several times while we were there, so it was a great place to grab lunch while hanging out at the pool or beach.

If you're in the back building, it's farther to the beach, but there are carts that are running back in forth if you don't feel like walking. The back buildings do have a lovely, quieter pool area and the balconies are more peaceful to sit and enjoy without all the noise from the busy main pools.

We went on the alligator boat tour in the Sea Pines area one evening, very interesting and the kids loved it. They also enjoyed Harbourtown and the marina.

It was a wonderful week, we are returning to HHI this summer but will be staying at Marriots Surfwatch this time.

Enjoy!!
