Are Royal Islander and Royal Caribbean all inclusive or not? Are they trsnsitionimg to AI? There's lots of 2016 inventory on RCI Weeks for low TPU cost so wonder if they are now AI or going the AI route? thx for update!

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
Even if they do, when they transitioned the two resorts before, you were grandfathered if you made you exchange before the Mandatory AI announcement was made.

Thank you both! addtl question: is one of those resorts preferred by Tuggers in the know? Perhaps a brand new refurb or a pending one? Or better chance of good view from balcony of one versus the other? Does one have a better pool system? Etc etc? Thx again!

They are pretty identical. IMHO I think the pool is nicer at the Islander. The rr do not do a major refurbishment-- they just constantly maintain and add some other features, ie Murphy beds. The resorts are next to one another.

I also think that the pool is nicer with Islander, but you can use any pools within the Tri-Royals and they are next to each other.

We exchanged into the RC in May a few years ago, and got straight-up, full frontal beachfront. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk asked us if we wanted to change the unit. It was dark and late, and I asked, tiredly, "Should we?" And then he said, oh, no, you'll love it--you lucked out. And, boy howdy, did we!

And that was a full two-bedroom on an AC. :)

Royal's management says neither the RC or RI will go the AI route. RC's RTU ends toward the end of 2018 and RI more mid 2023.

Don't know about others " in the know". We own at the lslander and like it much better. Smaller than the Carribean. Also like the pool area better.

I really like the views from RC.

But if you have anything in II, I prefer Westin LagunaMar for the location across from La Isla. Mall.

And REALLY fabulous units. Even the studios are GREAT!

Which is nicer is in my opinion not relevant - just think of them as one large resort with two sections connected by a walkway. Same stretch of beach, multiple pool areas, five restaurants, take-out, delivery, two mini markets, etc etc. Don't just stay at one, take advantage of both of them!

I far prefer the pool areas at the RC, love Pacos Tacos at the RI, the RI mini market is larger, the takeout is at the RC as is the pool volleyball net.....we wander back and forth all the time.
