I kind of asked this question but did not get any replies. I assume the best way to use points that are not needed is to book something and rent it. Often I may not have enough points to book a week and do not want to deposit in RCI. I can always use the point pool and I guess the decision I have to make is if I have only a few thousand extra points is it worth $39 to transfer to the point pool.

I am wondering if there is a simple conversion of points to mf with Wyndham. I am guessing it would take a whole lot of points to pay off a few mf dollars, but I sincerely hope I am wrong.

There is a wealth of information in Directory. Page 375 explains.

Conversion rate is $.0021 per point plus a RT!

So 100K points gets you $210 in MF credit.

I also saw I can only use current year points and not pooled points.
True, and you only have a limited amount of time within the use year to elect to exercise this option:
3/6/9/12 months after beginning of use year for Regular (non-VIP)/Silver/Gold/Platinum VIP.

Not great, but not horrible, either, if you have no other options as it works out to about a 30-40% refund depending on one's MF costs.

Of course, it is always better to try to use or extend points via the credit pool (preferably) or RCI deposit (next best option, unless you have too many RCI points like I do.)

Yep, using RCI is my last option as I already have weeks I know I will not be able to use. I started doing this and stopped, but need to work on my seven year plan. I put on a spreadsheet where we would like to go the next several years and what it would take to get there. I am planning on nearly doubling my points in the next year so planning will be extra important, and I admit it is a pretty enjoyable task!
