I just received an email "A Westin exclusive just for you" containing a "preferred invitation" offering 4 nights at Westin Desert Willow 1br for $389. T&C say maximum occupancy is 4. We are a family of 5, with thee kids, all boys around 8 years old. We are totally fine with the room and bedding configuration for our family of 5, but as official maximum occupancy is 4, here comes the question. What would happen if I reserve it for 2 adults, 2 kids, and then just show up with 3 kids? Is it a big no-no, or is it likely to be OK in practice, even though strictly speaking against T&C? We are planning a trip to Southern CA and Arizona, and this offer would ideally suit us, so looking for your opinions on what will likely happen if we just show up with 3 kids.

I would think they would not allow you to stay in the 1 br unit since the maximum occupancy is 4.

Or with the grandparents or reserve a studio (small 1br). Rates there are quite reasonable in the off-season.

I would just leave your kids in the car when checking in :p

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
In general if it the premium 1 br, then they allow a cot and then you can sleep 5. The non premium 1 br is almost half the size of the premium (usually it is 820sf vs 600 sf) and the max really is 4.

What tschwa2 said - if you get the non-premium side of a 2 bedroom lockoff, the living room area is really tiny - no room for a cot in addition to the open sofabed, without blocking the walkway area from kitchen to bath to bedroom. But if you got the bigger side, the only issue would be whether the occupancies are a legal restriction - which they probably are.
