My wife and I bought our first timeshares this year off of Ebay and are very happy. We purchased a 1 bedroom studio at Bluebeard's Beach Club in St. Thomas for $1000 - $618 MF 18-51 float weeks. We purchased in April and haven't got the deed yet. Deeds are very slow in SST. This is the only drawback.

This summer we purchased a 2 bedroom at Foxrun in Lake Lure for $150 - $500 MF week 27. We got the deed last month.

We can easily drive to Lake Lure and use fly miles to go to SST. We visited BBC last December and took a tour and a friend has the same unit at Lake Lure - we've stayed there twice so we knew what we were getting.

The deals are out there just know what you're getting. We use Just Snipe and put in the maximum bid we wanted to pay. I was lucky that a Tugger that owned at BBC took me under her wing and showed me the ropes.

My favorites

Purchased a one bedroom at Riverpointe Napa for $98 total. No closing costs, seller paid the $310 transfer fee, and the $710 2010 maintenance fee. We just used our free 2010 week. A bad hotel room in Napa is about $130+/night.

Purchased a two bedroom Christmas week in Vail. $1200+closing. Maintenance fee about $700. Any hotel room in Vail or within 15 miles during the holidays, about $200+/night.

Both resorts have bonus nights for near or less than (maintenance fee)/7 per night.
