Discount - try 90%+ to start!

Includes the always needed dreamer that HIS resort is somehow immune ($128,000 - sure any day!). But at least it notes that even the best of the best have been devastated by over-supply.

Again, buy to use and take advantage of an unbelievable buyers market and you can make out big time now with a very selective purchase.

Did anyone notice that this article was written 18 months ago. Some of those declines in sales have come and gone.

Weasel-Speak.

The article says timeshares are a way of locking in the cost of vacation accommodations.

Balderdash !

Regardless of whether a timeshare is el cheapo or even el freebo, the real cost is in the everlasting & never-ending maintenance fees & reserve fund payments & real estate taxes.

Those are not only not locked in, they are just about certain to go up.

Who can believe the major media anymore ?

Sheesh.

Those declines have actually come and come and come. I don't think we have seen any increases since the article was written.

Timeshares are like $10 ink jet printers that end up costing $60 just to replace 4 cartridges.

Read somewhere than HP makes more profit on ink jet ink than anything else they sell.

Oh yes also like the free kitten my wife got:annoyed: and the free puppy I got.:D

Bah humbug,

"That doesn't mean the value won't grow. Berman notes that a time-share unit he purchased in Colorado in 1997 for less than $40,000 is now worth more than $125,000 in the resale market."

and what timeshare does this happen to be?

All he needs to do is send $1985 for a title search, comparative market analysis .... .

What would be the purpose of that? Many many tuggers are trying to sell a timeshare or two - do we want letters to the editor going to the entire population that reads TIME complaining about timeshares and maintenance fees? I do not see the point. Funtime

That's why weekly news magazines like Time & Newsweek are going the same way as Life, McCalls and numerous other print publications. Good or bad, we are probably seeing the last gasp of much of the old print media.

Let "the population" find TUG.....more rounded and knowledgeable than that article. Articles like this may help a TUGGER or two get rid of an unwanted timeshare since "it's a great time to get a deal on a timeshare." ;)

And it is, if you're knowledgeable about what you're actually buying and what the potential negatives could be in the future. :)
