Hi,
I am looking for suggestions to book a TS on RCI with some below limitations:
1. Not more than 11 hours drive from Philadelphia
2. Family friendly, comfortable, doesn't have to be all great, or the best
3. Looking to be around major sightseeing stuff for ex: Boston, Smoky Mountains.

Thank you so much

Are you looking for something that has at least occasional summer availability or can you travel during times when schools are in session?

Do you want to go north or south? What time of year? Do you have a timeshare to exchange? Need more info to help?

National Harbor near DC has last minute weeks that pop up and then disappear fairly quickly. The week before Christmas is a possibility. I wouldn't expect the other weeks to have availability.

Virginia Beach and Williamsburg both have a lot to do between the historic triangle and throw in Norfork, and the other Hampton Roads nautical cities. Like National Harbor can be quite chilly in November and December but all will have 90% or more of the tourist interests open and available.

Hilton Head is going to be your best shot at warm (although not beach bathing suit weather) within your driving distance preference. It isn't unusual to have a few days in the 70's in any given week even in December. There are definitely nature-y and outdoor type activities you can do including biking, nature cruises, kayaking, nature preserves. Savannah is about an hour away. Charleston, SC is going to be further but a possible full day excursion. Both cities have hop on hop off type tours.

Personally I think Myrtle Beach is going to be as cold as Virginia Beach but a further drive and less to do off season.

the week of Dec 24 will be tougher than the week of Dec 17, of which there should be lots of availability b/c most schools are still in session. Wllmbg is a good option. It will be decorated and there are many extra activities. I also recommend the DC area, if you can get it. Tons of museums (many of them free). Easy to fill an entire week in DC. You can also take a day trip to the Baltimore Acquarium, Science and Discovery museum. Excellent for kids your ages. Massanutten is another option, but the fees for activities and waterpark can add up.

I'd consider any decent resort in or around Atlantic City NJ. There's plenty to do in the city itself (concerts, restaurants, casinos), beaches are not far away (if that is your thing), the local area is really nice if you like farmers markets, antiquing, etc. And if all that is not enough, you can hop on a bus and be in new york city in 2 hours.

I would aim for Massanutten--lots to do in that central VA area, and also close to DC. Should be good availability. Might have skiing in Dec., but probably not at Thanksgiving. Could also do Monticello, etc. Should only be about 4-5 hours from Philly.

Might also want to consider Shawnee in the Poconos, but that will be more nature-based activities. Williamsburg would also be do-able, and you could do day trips to the cool museums in Richmond and the area around Newport News.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I really liked the suggestions about williamsburg or DC OR ac, nj after checking some of the area info. Hopefully will get into one of these. Thank you.

just got back from a weekend at Wllmbg. We have been over 8 times (2 hrs away) and always do a few new things each time. This time our new things were listening to G. Washington and Patrick Henry address the townspeople during the Rev. War, participating in a trial of one of Blackbeard's pirates (extra $, evening performance), and lunch at a colonial tavern. Of course, lots of houses and crafts/trade places to visit, which we still enjoy seeing, even after years of visiting.
We stayed at Greensprings (RCI), which we like a lot. They have a very nice indoor pool, hug hot tub and saunas. We easily filled up 2 days, and that's after many visits. I would think you could find plenty to do for a full week, plus Busch Gardens has a Christmas town with limited rides during Dec, as well. Thanksg week is not too hard to get. But, decorations go up the Sunday AFTER Thanksg.
