My husband has a number of points for travel on American Airlines. He no longer has an AA credit card and these points are going to expire next year because of inactivity. Is there any way to keep the account active without opening a credit card account in his name? Thanks for info.

Usually buying points, using their dining or shopping mall will keep the points from expiring.

Or spending a few points. A charity gift or a magazine subscription.

Register any credit card with advantage dining and eat at a participating restaurant. That's the easiest as said above by dioxide

Call the points program people and ask them what you can do. You might be able to keep them active or transfer them to a different program or cash them out in some other form.

If you shop online, sign up at aadvantageeshopping.com and use the portal when you shop or you can purchase a $.99 iTune. Redeem a few miles for a magazine. Sign up for their emails. Every once in awhile AA gives free miles for watching a video, etc.

I do this every year for my kids. I find the cheapest item with free shipping on the shopping portal, often something from Avon.
