And somebody likely already paid a fee to have it sold.

How are these comments helpful? If a person wants to get rid of timeshare, someone else may want it! Where is this Ocean Watch?

Off season Marriott weeks can get great II exchanges during flexchange. If you can travel with 59 days notice, you can exchange into the Hawaii Marriotts, Boston, Newport Coast, Hilton Head etc. I don't think this is a lock-off unit, but the 2 bedroom deposit would give you more trading power.

I've been very successful with off-season Marriott weeks.

This is a discussion forum and the question was asked, the OP can also advertise on TUG Bargain Basement ads where there is no discussion. Its not like its top secret, there was another recent discussion where someone bought DC points and gave back a bronze week, effectively paying Marriott to take it back instead of paying a liquidator.

I wasn't criticizing the fact that it's free, merely answering the poster's question as to why it's free. The person offering it has already made their profit on it, so they are giving it away. It may be a perfect fit for someone out there.

Why is it free

Please note that almost all the timeshares offered in this forum are free.

It's not a negative reflection on this timeshare - it's just the nature of the resale market. Most timeshares resale for 0-10% of original retail.

People are likely noticing that nearly all of the OPs posts are giving away various timeshares for "Free," and being inquisitive about the nature of the giveaways. Nothing wrong with that, they are just questions.

The helpfulness is in the eye of the reader, but helpfulness is not necessarily a requirement for a post on the forums that I am aware of.

You can almost always pick up one of these weeks as a Getaway from Interval International for about $400.

I stay at this timeshare every year in either late January or early February. It is a wonderful resort, but when I can pick up a week for a third of the maintenance fees, why would I ever buy it.

That's why it would be good to get this unit for free. It's how you use it for an exchange :)

Folks - I appreciate good honest info. But let's not be derogatory, OK? That serves no purpose.

Indeed: at the price of $free and with relatively low MF's for Marriott, this unit can trade into ton's of Marriotts with preference; it's all about the timing and lead timing.

And, with all due respect, this unit would probably trade into properties that won't be on the 'getaway' list for $400 bucks anytime soon.

What building are you in?

Ocean view units are only in the Pine and Maple buildings at Ocean Watch. They are the higher floors, though I don't know for sure what floor number the garden view units end and the ocean view start.
