I would like suggestions for transportation from LGA to Manhattan Club. The car service the resort suggests costs $95 one way. Seems like a lot. Would the subway be viable? We have carry on bags only. Also, suggestions on what kind of pass we should by to get around the city for 7 days?

We will be arriving late Sat. afternoon.

Thanks

You can purchase a 7 day metro pass, it is for unlimited rides and is $30 plus a $1 fee for the card. In this scenario each person must purchase there own pass.

You can also just load some money on a metro card. In this scenario 1 OR MORE people can the same metro pass.

You can buy at pass at the vending station outside LGA airport, right by the bus stop.

take a look at the NY subway website. It list prices and is actually go for giving you routing options between points.

The M60 route has a lot of stairs up and no elevator, if that is a problem consider taking one of the two routes that take you to the Jackson Heights station (M or R lines). Depending on where you are going in Manhattan you may have to take another subway. Where as the M60 bus to the N or Q lines brings you in to Manhattan at the south end of Central Park.

You can take a New York City Yellow Cab. There is a set fee from LGA to manhattan. It will he less then half of the town car fee. Once in town, you should buy. 7 day metro passes at a subway station. Very easy and handy to use.

Hmmm. Maybe I lied. Here is JFK.
Flat Fare from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport:
For trips between (to and from) Manhattan and JFK International Airport, the flat fare is $52.00 plus any tolls using Rate Code 2 on the meter. A NY State Tax Surcharge of $.50 will be added to each trip.

Group Rides from Marine Air and Delta Shuttle Terminals at LaGuardia Airport –

A yellow taxi group ride stand at the Marine Air and Delta Shuttle Terminal serves passengers between the hours of 7 and 10 a.m. and 4 and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Passengers pay a flat fare of $22 per person for rides with two passengers, or $18 per person for rides with three passengers for taxicab rides from the stand to drop-off points bounded by 59th Street to the north, 35th Street to the south, 8th Avenue to the west and 2nd Avenue to the east. Drivers are not allowed to pick up additional passengers along the way.

Ways to Go

As a native New Yorker who has travelled from LGA a hundred times. Here are my 2 favorite options.

Inexpensive ($2.50 per person) - Q70 express bus to 74th st Roosevelt subway stop. Stops at all terminals except the Marine Air Terminal. No stops between the airport and subway. This is a new service. At the 74th st station take the F train to 57th and 6th and it is a short walk to the Manhattan Club. Purchase a MetroCard at the terminal to ride the bus. Good with limited luggage.

Moderate- Yellow cab -around $40 dollars including toll and tip. Available outside all terminals. Good choice with moderate to heavy luggage

We just got back yesterday from The Manhattan Club. The easiest way to go is a yellow cab.
