Are there reasonably priced duffer/hacker friendly courses in Hilton Head?

This would be my second time on a course

Not a very good place for your second time. That said Island west is closest to fitting your need!

There's an executive course next to Hilton Head National if it's still open. Good for a newbie. Also check for coupons and local info when you arrive. Okatie at Sun City has pretty good fairways but I don't think it's cheap.

Island West is in Bluffton. I want to find something in Hilton Head proper - even if I loose a sleeve of ball or more

My choice for your request would be Robber's Row in Port Royal. (Note the "wide fairways" in the article's title.)

Public golf course
72 par
6,642 yards
73 rating
$131 green fees* on weekends
$131 green fees* on weekdays
$65 twilight fees*
* includes golf cart where available

Thank you Dave. I reserved the Barony course instead - your link led me to it. Barony is also at Port Royal but it's supposed to be friendlier to beginners.

The rate was $80.

Hey, now I have a shot at hitting it into the ocean:banana:

Thanks Dave.

I changed my reservation!

I would love it if another Tugger saw this thread and wanted to join me for a round. The tee time is for this Sunday at 8:18 AM. Anyone? Anyone?

Good answer but not as good as the one to Steamboat Bill about going in on a lottery ticket. That was FUNNY.

what about the SHipyard courses ??

there are 3 Shipyard courses which I played and not everyone out there was like Tiger !!! Take a look and they give you a nice view of alot of the ts and condos... I cannot place the names but do have them at home if you need them...:D also , Old South and Old Carolina I thought were good for those of us that dont play too too often... I liked them both and they are outside of Blufton. Take a look at the web sites for the holes etc..

Just got back for 18 holes at the Ocean Course.

Let me say this about that - ain't no fairway wide enough for my game. I had fun though.
