Hi all, We are headed to Marriott Fairway Villas (Galloway, NJ) this Saturday to use our timeshare week (home resort) but had a few questions that we don't remember seeing asked/answered her on TUG. This will only be our second visit (as owners); we spent last years week at the end of the summer and it rained all week - hope we have better luck this year!
Anyhow, here are our questions:
1. Has anyone taken advantage of Family Golf at the resort courses and remember any details such as fees, hours offered, typical need for reservations etc.? We want to use a two for one golf certificate that we have (thanks to LAXMOM!) but were also thinking about trying out Family Golf to get our 8 year old (and her grandma) involved....
2. We were thinking about bringing our bikes and know of course that the nearby boardwalks (Atlantic City, Ocean City) would be great biking, but are there bike trails on or near the resort?

Thanks in advance for any replies!
Vicki

Hi Vicki! I am also an owner checking-in on Saturday!

IMHO, both the Pines and Bay courses would be too difficult for a beginning 8 year old to play, but a lesson would be fun. You could also spend an hour or so with her at the driving range and putting greens. John Jacobs golf school recently came on site so there may be new promos offered.

Even though the Atlantic City boardwalk is closer, I prefer biking at Ocean City. I don't know of any bike trails at the resort and the nature trail would not be suitable for biking as it runs thru the Pines course.

Have fun! Hope to see you around the pool:hi: .

I'm a mere exchanger, checking in on Saturday. We should definitely have a TUG pool session.

Be aware that you can only bike on the boardwalk at Ocean City in the mornings. The cut-off time is either 10 or 11 AM.

There is a very nice (wide) paved bike/walking trail in Egg Harbor Township. It starts at Rt. 40/322 right by an old mall, not far from Storybook Land. It's a straight path (used to be railroad tracks) that goes out for more than 7 miles - that's as far as I've gone for a half-marathon training walk - it went further than that. You can park right by the entrance and then go out as far as you want and ride back - distances are well-marked. Sorry I don't have better directions, it's been over a year since I've been down there.

Thanks for all the information!

about biking and golf etc...

Maria and Holly - let me know if you want to have a TUG get-together. When we were at Fairway Villas last August, we met someone (in the adult pool at Red Door) from TUG and would welcome meeting more fellow TUGgers. If you see someone biking around the resort on a tandem bike (we'e hoping to bring it) that will probably be us!

Hi Davey, I think that was me that you were talking to last year. It definitely was a crappy week, except for that one day we met in the pool. Hopefully you'll have a better week this year. We're not heading to MFV this year. We went to MOW a few weeks ago instead. That was great!

That was you BT - hope we fare better with weather this year/week!

Deleted First it was there twice and now gone forever (I'm not typing it in again!)

Anyhow - maybe we'll cross paths again sometime BT (in MFV, MOW, HHI, or Aruba). Take care!
