Hello,

This is my first post, so forgive me if I am in the wrong thread.

Lets say I *buy* 2500 points from SVC (or on the Resale market) I have a MF (maintenence fee) of $500 on my 2500 points.

If I *buy* more points, say 500, does my MF go up? Or do I gain some advantage in buyingt extra points?

Thanks for your replies!

If it isn't just a "one time use" of the 500 Shell points, but an actual purchase to be used every year, then YES, you maintenance fee will increase.

With Shell points, the first 2000 points are a flat rate which also includes an annual club fee and is around $550. For each point above 2000 points your fee increases about $00.16 per point (i.e. 3000 points would be about $710). This assumes all your points are within the same Home Club (Hawaii, California, Southwest). If you purchase additional points in a separate Home Club you will end up paying additional fees. I am not sure you can buy as few as 500 points either on the resale market or from Shell direct (I am not suggesting you buy direct from Shell). If you haven't already purchased any points, I would suggest you determine how many total points you will want and what Home Club you are likely to use the most and buy the total number of points in a single purchase in the Home Club you want. This will insure that all your points become available at the same time and also save on closing costs/transfer fees.

The last time I inquired from Shell, you could buy more points from them, after initial purchase, in 250 point increments. That may have changed. This was our only purchase from the "developer", during our pre-TUG days, and we were initially sold a 2500 point package, which when we got into the details after our purchase, quickly found that so few points wouldn't get squat anywhere. We returned later that year, and purchased enough more to meet our needs.
The main thing about Shell is to buy all of your points, however you buy them, in the same "home club".
