Looking for suggestions from you lovely Tuggers. Yes, I'm way behind on my planning. We want to do a spring break beach trip within 8 hours driving distance of DC (prolly limits us to the Carolinas). Some place where we can swim, golf and restaurants nearby. Week prior to Easter. We are 2 adults and one child under 10. I'd love recommendations for resorts/timeshare rentals. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

This question is too broad, and you are likely to get recommendations that aren't even available at this late date.

A better option would be for you to visit some rental websites and see what is available as a rental, list a few rentals that you are interested in, and let Tuggers weigh in on specific resorts.

Try the TUG Marketplace, and www.redweek.com

We live not too far from you and we have been alternating between Hilton Head and Virginia Beach. Last year was a Hilton Head year but we couldn't find anything exchanging through II or RCI (with an 18 month search) so we settled on Myrtle Beach. While Myrtle wasn't bad, the weather wasn't as nice as we have had in Hilton Head. It was similar to what we would have had in VB. It was a much further drive for VB type weather and while it has a lot of activities , they were more expensive and less educational based. We like VB at that time of year because even if it is rainy and cooler we have enough between Williiamsburg, Hampton, VB, and Norfolk to keep us busy both indoor and out when the sun doesn't shine. In Hilton Head we love spending time on the water, dolphin watch, kayaking, etc and riding bikes and spending time outdoors.

We like OBX in the early summer but I've always been afraid that there isn't enough indoors in case it is too windy an cold in the spring.

If you can't get VB at this late date Williamsburg is usually a fairly easy alternate. You can always do VB as a day trip during the week if you know one day is going to be especially nice and the rest of the Hampton Roads area is a fun place for nautical type day trips visiting both naval and commercial ship yards and naval history as well as colonial history.

Yeah, we went to Virginia Beach years ago during spring break in April- Easter time- and it was too cold to go in the water, but sunny and nice for a walk on the beach. Didn't seem like a lot of things were opened then, but we did hot Willimasburg, etc.

I vote for the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Go look on line at the Corolla Light resort. You will see they have a big indoor facility for fitness, pools, etc.

You will have to rent through an agency, but prices should be good and you will still see availability.

If not, go see what you can find around either Kiawah or Pawleys. You won't find any timeshare exchanges this late, but maybe some by owner or on Redweek.
