For a friend who lives in sunny Florida but can trade through RCI and wants late May which three resorts would you suggest and why.

As a new englander I love coastal Maine Oqunquit and Portland but never stayed at a TS do hotel weekends.

Of those, I would easily choose Samoset.

I suspect it is the nicest of them all, resort is on the water. Nice golf course (if that interests anyone), and Camden is a nice town to visit---a short drive.

I agree 100%. Samoset is, without question, head and shoulders above any and all of the others listed. That being said, it will almost certainly be among the most difficult to "exchange" into.

Fwiw, Sea Mist in Wells is situated right on the northbound side of U.S. 1 and it is nothing more than a converted bare bones motel. It should permanently remain in its' current place of last on that list.

Of the two places listed in Ogunquit, we have stayed at Seacastles a few times; nice enough and closer to the center of town than Hillcrest Condominiums, with which I have no personal experience.
Seacastles is also very close to a direct access to the beautiful and justifiably renowned Marginal Way (a seaside paved walking path) .

Personally, I would certainly choose either listed place in Ogunquit over any place in Wells. Also, fwiw, be aware that there is virtually no beach parking (maybe two dozen public spaces) in Wells.
Most people end up having to take a shuttle / trolley to the beach in Wells from their respective lodging locations --- a transportation option which interests me not one bit, personally. YMMV.

We have reservations at Samoset this summer, and I can't wait to go. We stayed at Misty Harbor a few years back, and it is a very nice resort. We stayed there a little too late in the year for the shuttle, so I can't really comment on that. I remember it as being a very nice area tho, we did do a whale watch out of Kennebunkport.
