Wyndham Orlando - Better for kids, Star Island or Reunion?

Hi, I'm looking for some advice / insights from other Wyndham owners regarding resorts in Orlando.

I want to book a 3 bedroom in late July or August for my SIL and nephews to visit and do the parks. There is no availability in July, but both Star Island and Wyndham Vacation Resorts at Reunion are available in August.

We'll be at Disney and Universal or Sea World most of the days, but for any time we spend at the resort, which is better (nicer accommodations, more fun for kids, any other criteria you like...)?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Best regards,
Frank

Never been to Reunion, but drove past it. It looks great if you like to golf. Don't know what they have for kids. Star Island is great for kid and adults. It's pretty much a self contained resort with something for everyone. We're been there several times and will go back, and it cheap on points...

I've heard nothing but good reports on both resorts, and have never stayed at either. I think you'd be fine either place. However, looking at the two resort pages, I think I would choose Reunion.

Reunion has it's own water park, which looks quite nice and is included with a Wyndham stay. The 3-bedrooms have 3 baths and 1530 square feet.

The 3-bedrooms at Star Island have 2 baths and 1450 square feet.

Reunion would be 285,000 for a Prime week; Star Island would be 224,000 -- not a significant difference in my mind.

I don't know what the drive times are comparatively, but they look about equally convenient on the maps. Star Island is off 192, which means probably close to dining, groceries, etc. Reunion is just off I-4 which might mean quicker drive times.

I personally would like Reunion better because it's closer to the great restaurants at Celebration -- and because of the water park, 3 bathrooms, and a little more space.

We've been to both several times.

Star island is older, not so fancy, busier, noisier , but has lots of activities available to walk to right there.

Reunion is fabulous, huge, good views from balconies plus several pools to choose from plus the great water park and another rec area with pool and activity area. You do need to drive to the water park probably but there's a pool close by wherever you are.

I think reunion might be a little further away from the parks but might be faster to get there since you dont have the 192 traffic

Also Star island is not managed by Wyndham so it's a little " different " at check in. Reunion treats you like royalty and FYI offers bell hop service plus shuttle service to the resort areas and they tell you , no tipping .

We've been to Reunion 3Xs. My kids enjoyed the water park. 10 other pools to enjoy. The rooftop pool of the hotel is nice, but closes early. The rooms are spacious. 3BR/3BTH. They are still constructing the golf courses. At least 1 is complete, maybe 2, not sure. It's away from the hustle and bustle of Celebration, but a close drive. Stayed in Bonnet Creek (in the heart of Disney). Very nice, but crowded highways.

Hope that helps!
