Beach Street Cottages
We normally stay in Destin twice each year. End of Sept. to start of Oct. at Majestic Sun, and then a long weekend (4-5 nights) at Beach Street Cottages around Memorial Day.
The cottages are 2 miles down the road from Majestic Sun. All but one are 1 bedroom, but have bunk beds in the hall and a fold out couch, so the unit sleeps 6 comfortably. The area is quieter than Majestic Sun and the surrounding amenities are not as plentiful.
You have Kenny D's diner next door and Captain Dave's across the street for walkable restaurants. Pompano Joe's is about 1 mile towards Majestic Sun. Very walkable and walking is recommended to help burn off the great food you just ate!!! The units are always clean and comfortable.
There is a central pool that can get semi loud if your unit is near it when other owners have parties or gatherings there. There are picnic tables with umbrellas and grills on the deck near the pool. Check in is at Beach Street Cottages during normal hours, and after hours at Majestic Sun. You have full access to all the Majestic Sun Amenities and Activities. We don't usually do them as we prefer our own activities (Beach, Sun, Sightseeing, did I mention Beach and Sun?).
If you really like a quiet beach, Deer Lake State Park is about a 15 minute drive towards Panama Beach on Highway 30A and only costs $3. The walk from the parking area to the Beach there is about 1/2 mile on a boardwalk across the sand dunes so don't bring everything including the kitchen sink when you go to Deer Lake.
Hope this helps.
